Legally_popular - you're kidding right?? who would actually do that and think he's going to call them?! Aaron is a talented person and definitely deserves attention etc. but there's a way to tell someone you appreciate their talent w/o going overboard.
He does miss performances for filming GG, but he also is calling out on days he isn't filming. I'm sure he has his reasons and perhaps its even for another project we don't know. On another note - I thought all the fangirls went nuts over Alice, I didn't think it was Aaron as much...

"Fangirls also give Aaron their numbers when he's on stage."
While he's on stage?! That's ridiculous!!

Yeah..i still don't understand how/why they throw notes on the stage. I know as an actor you block out distractions but for the fangirls to even think that's okay is beyond me...

Seriously??!!! They throw him notes?? And the fact that they know his family was in town is disturbing. I mean how did they get the info? Aaron (as far as I know) doesn't have a twitter or any other social media outlet, which leads me to believe the fans are doing some pretty serious stalkage.
It's cool if they hear stuff from this via Twitter and stuff because the person obliges that it's public information. But he doesn't so because of privacy ( I would assume so) so that's freaky.
What a great show with the most freaky fans.

You know, I really would like to know what those fangirls/boys do at the stagedoor that make the performers so freaked out. I don't go to the stagedoor a lot in The Netherlands, but when I do fans are always being very decent and kind. So I just can't imagine what these fans do...Although I get a pretty good idea when I hear about the notes.

Who remembers when this was a small, serious, and moving adult musical?
The children (and unstable adults) ruin every show with a pop/rock score, handsome male actor, and a friendly star.

I saw the play several weeks ago when Aaron was in it. I did not notice anyone giving him notes when he was on stage. The entire cast after the show had a 30 minute talk with drama students about the show. Aaron had left the theater right after this show, and the drama students did not get a chance to hear what he had to say. Fans at the stage door have been polite and curteous to the stars. All they want is a picture with them, and a signed playbill which most of this cast is willing to do.

ljay I was just thinking that today.
This is the kind of show you wouldnt normally expect kids and teens to want to see.
We all know the real reason they go is Alice and Aaron (mostly Alice).
The fans love their "friendship" with her.
N2N is their bus ride to Alice Ripley

Shrieking, yelling, screaming and crying is not being polite.
You seem to be the only one saying the crowds have been "curteous"...

When I saw the show in April, I was one of 5 people at the stage door. There was no yelling, crying, or any other inappropriate behavior. Back then, the attraction to the show was for the show itself, not to be best friends with the actors. People were going to the stage door to thank the actors for their performance. Now, it's all about being friends and that pisses me off. The fact that these kids are ruining the experience both inside and outside of the theater is appalling. I am glad that the show has found success, but there is a small part of me that longs for the days where it had a small, yet sane, fanbase.

Most people go to the stage door ONCE and get signatures on their Playbill. Even if they return to the show, they do not return to the stage door. The "fans" in question frequent the stage door and assume familiarity with the actors which understandably makes them uneasy (except for Alice, of course). Jen was clearly more sensitive earlier on seeing as how she lived through the SA stage door and its nightmare inhabitants. It must be very disconcerting is all I can say.

Here's an idea.
Unless you actually know them, and have been to their house, they don't give a flying monkey butt about you.

Of the five times I've been to the next to normal stage door (yes I've been there five times), the only time I thought the crowd was out of control was the Saturday matinee I mentioned before. I guess I've just been lucky.

"I'm saying that I think befriending performers you don't personally know and aren't really friends with to come post what they say here is akin to stalking."
Eris, rememebr what Wishing was posting in the N2N stage door thread?

She's NOT a stalker!
Just look at her av!

Wait - if there were no film/tv absence provision in Aaron's contract, how do people think he could be missing all these shows? He probably has the typical clause allowing absences to film a tv show or movie with a certain amount of notice. It's not at all unusual for a contract to allow such a thing - it's just slightly unusual for an actor to get such a hefty filming job while also in a stage show.
Also, this thread is making me want to observe the N2N stage door again.
Haven't been there since June, and apparently things have changed!

SAVEUSMIKE -- why would you say that most teens wouldn't want to see this? One of the lead characters exhibits all the teenage angst that most kids exhibit for a variety of reasons...they are
1. drawn to Natilie's Story
2. drawn to adorable Aaron
My HS students are hoping to see this in April, if they release group sales soon for that far out. It was their 2nd choice after Hair. We see three shows during our weekend.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

I spoke with Aaron Tveit after a Saturday matinee a few months back -- he'd finished signing and was headed towards 45th Street. He couldn't have been nicer, so I'd think if someone approaches him in an adult manner, they woulnd't have a problem. But these adoloscent teener-boppers go too far -- I know I'd be runnning for cover if a gang of them approached me.

Wait, they give him their phone numbers and he takes them backstage, therefore encouraging this? There's much to be said for being kind to your fans, but you've got to know when to draw the line and not reward or perpetuate the insane behavior.
No, he takes the NOTES backstage.
LOL, yes he takes the notes backstage. Not the people, just to clarify. Although picking up their notes might also encourage it because they might believe that he is keeping them. When I witnessed it, it was during curtain call and by someone in a front row rush seat. It would be even more tacky and pathetic if it was DURING the show.
It's not the people who see the show multiple times that have a problem as there is nothing wrong with supporting a show. However, there's something wrong with the people who have to go to the stage door every single time just to get that interaction with the cast. They can try to justify it all they want by saying they're just showing love for the show, but nope, it's to get attention during and after the show. Some fans even believe they are actually friends with Alice or the other cast members. The cast members know certain fans by name and are uncomfortable around them. Alice is the only one who seemingly encourages this behavior and I don't know why.
