We all lead such elaborate lives
wild ambitions in our sights
How an affair of the heart survives
days apart and hurried nights
Seems quite unbelievable to me
I don't want to live like that
seems quite unbelievable to me
I don't want to love like that
I just want our time to be
slower and gentler, wiser, free

We all live in extravagant times
playing games we can't all win
Unintended emotional crimes
Take some out, take others in

I'm so tired of all were going through
I don't want to live like that
I'm so tired of all were going through
I don't want to love like that
I just want to be with you
Now and forever, peaceful, true
This may not be the moment
to tell you face to face
But I could wait forever
for the perfect time and place

As am I. Enough to get me out of lurkdom.

Maybe Adam Pascal should just watch Marc Shaiman's "Good Morning, BroadwayWorld," and actually let it go.

I enjoy Pascal's work, but I really hope that there is something more to this, something that we don't see or know that prompted his FB rant and subsequent replies. Because if this is just normal behavior for him, with all the snarky things posted about him online, I'm amazed that his head hasn't exploded.

I bet the writers of Smash are sad they can't give Jimmy this story arc in Season 3. Jeremy Jordan could probably sing the hell out of a jazzy rendition of "Hate On Me, Hater".

"Jane2 - I think Winston understands all performers are human. I think it is reasonable to assume that this type of thing has happened to Pascal and other performers more than once in their life. Due to that it is reasonable to assume that when your mind goes blank that you can do something beside silence to minimize the mistake if you are a experienced Broadway performer.

It is totally different but I will mention it just for the heck of it. When my daughters were teenagers, they were dancing in a dance competition. Their group was doing the dance and all of a sudden the recorded music stopped. All of the dancers continued to dance until the very end without music and got wild applause when it ended. They were taught from their teachers that no matter what happens to continue to dance until the end. I have no experience with acting but I would think in acting schools they would discuss what to do when your mind goes blank on a line or lines and how to recover quickly."

yeah, so? He screwed up.

At least he's not as bad as Rapp. If you dared to call the ReNt film anything less than a modern masterpiece jewel of modern cinema he would have a seizure and condemn you to rot in the sewers of hell and listen to BKLYN for all eternity.

"And to say it's "unclassy" for him to read the board about his profession and performance? Really? Hmmmm..."

No thats not what i meant. It's unclassy of him to call random people ****heads on facebook. He really is just hurting his image. You don't see Sierra Boggess or Sutton Foster do that. He is a broadway actor and i was defending him until i saw what he wrote in the comment section. Its really just unprofessional. If i was a producer and i saw what he wrote i probably wouldn't hire him in anything else. He needs to get some Class

"I've had two experiences where a performer saw something critical I wrote about them on the internet, and they responded to it. The first time was 5 years ago with Adam Pascal. He went nuts. Deleted his discussion boards, posted multiple blogs calling me out by name, incensing his fanbase into such a frenzy that some of them cyberstalked me." - Craww

"Craww, you're being just a bit disingenuous. You did not just post one critique about Mr. Pascal, you dissed him on his own webpage, attacked his fans, and you created a webpage solely to mock him with photoshopped pictures and mocking headlines. " - mimi 6

Exactly. I think we can agree that creating a webpage for the purpose of disrespecting a performer harassment, at least, if you don't want to elevate it to bullying. Free speech and all that, but it's obsessive and destructive behavior.

This kind of thing can quickly get out of hand, as we are witnessing right now. Of course Adam should have ignored this, but Craww isn't exactly the victim he paints himself. Not the first or even the second time you've been called out (even if once was a more civilized situation)? What does that tell you? Winston, while he's matured a little, once tried to have a doorman fired for some perceived slight and admits he's enjoying all the attention. What does that say?

And this?

" He'll get his."

literally makes my skin crawl. I'm sure you didn't mean anything truly malicious with that, WishingOnlyWounds, but that's an ominous and hugely loaded phrase.

mimi6, I think you're a little confused over the sequence of events there. Also, you seem to have created this account back in 2009 for the sole purpose of telling me to get a life, so I don't think any further explanation would sway your bias. I also think you know full well that this is normal behavior for him. Whether you think it's justified or not, you know it's something he's done frequently. Back when there was that brouhaha with Alice Ripley he responded on her Facebook saying BWW was the devil. Well, actually, he said BBW. So maybe it was an unrelated sizeist comment?

Manipulating pictures of someone in a joker hat is hardly on that level.

The point isn't to paint myself as a victim. I did some petty and immature stuff. The point is just to give some further perspective on how this is a problem for Adam Pascal. He is incapable of maturely responding to criticism, and the things he says when his feelings are hurt tend to be twice as hurtful as what was said of him. It's a pattern. I've read some of the stuff I used to post on this site and it's so much meaner than the stuff I post these days. I've grown, become less enamored of snark as a communication style. I think it's sad to see that he hasn't grown at all. Updated On: 6/6/13 at 03:39 PM

Good thing you're not a producer or nobody would have ever heard of Ethel Merman. I don't get this obsession with performers being "classy" or why anyone feels it's so damn important for performers not to behave like human beings. I think it was a bit stupid for Pascal to overreact, but I don't give two sh*ts if he's "classy". To me, true class means not being pretentious enough to expect it or demand it in others.

ghostlight2, I am not asking for him to be fired or harmed. But wait until his kids get bullied, or with how their father has been acting, are the bullies. (Again, I do not wish either upon them, but who doesn't go through some sort of bullying related phase in school?)

He's a father in his 40s attacking people on Facebook like he is an angry high school kid who didn't get a part in the school play; reality is sure to catch up with him.

Wasn't talking about that -I was talking about one of the webpages you created for the sole purpose of mocking Pascal. That's obsessive.

Not only am I not an Pascal fan, I couldn't pick him out of a line up. I just think this thread is a vast over-reaction to an insecure actor's rant to an anonymous person on the internet.

And amen to what Matt said (and Reg, and even taboo 123).

ete: WoW, maybe you need to edit your post. Maybe you left some words out, b/c it doesn't make a lot of sense. In any case, saying "He'll get his" and then referring to his children possibly being bullied b/c of his FB activity only makes the phrase more chilling.

Both of the ReNt boys are used to nothing but praise since 1996. They were told they were God's gift and they truly believed it. It's silly that we've had long threads of both defending their performances like they can do no wrong.

That doesn't seem to be true for Taye Diggs and Jesse L. Martin, though. Wonder why.

Edit: Or Wilson Jermaine Heredia.

How do you even remember that website if you're not a fan of his? I assumed like a dozen people saw it, and it's been gone for ages.

Wasn't talking about that -I was talking about one of the webpages you created for the sole purpose of mocking Pascal. That's obsessive.

But that's exactly what the website was. It was an image generator that cycled through about a dozen silly Photoshopped images, including the jester one. One of them was him manipulated as Elle Woods with Anthony Rapp as the chihuahua. I made those because I was a fan of his, and they were funny, and tooling around in Photoshop was my hobby. That's all it was. It cost 9.99 for the domain name and took about an hour to code and put up. When the domain was set to expire, I let it expire.

Did I put it up out of spite? Yeah. Because he'd gone way overboard in the things he said about me on his blog, and because his fans were harassing me too much to let it go.

Was it petty and a waste of 10 dollars and some free time? Absolutely. Was it obsessive? Eh. I don't think so. It certainly wasn't the product of a sick and demented mind, or an insidious campaign of harassment.

Yes, you would be fair to say that early on in my time spent posting here, I did things/was immature. However, I have grown up since then and it's important to acknowledge that people do grow up and change. For what it's worth, there have been times where I have looked at some of my original postings from when I started posting here, and thought "man, what the hell was I thinking?" People change. And, so have I.

But, you make it seem like I am getting off on the attention that has been directed towards me from this thread. I can assure you that that is far from the truth. I did say that I was enjoying the attention, but I did mean that more of a sarcastic light. I honestly feel that you took it the wrong way. The attention isn't something that I am getting off on, or enjoying in any sick or twisted way. In fact, I think that the whole situation, Pascal's reaction at all is kind of laughable and, like I said, I meant that I was enjoying the attention in more of a sarcastic way. Sorry if expressing tone of voice isn't my forte via text. I don't see anything wrong with half enjoying, albeit mildly the support that I have gotten from the posters here. Specially after I have been grilled to shreds before for doing stupid SH*T.

For what it's worth, my overall view of the matter is this. I paid for and saw a show, after which I came on here and started a thread about it. I made an observation about Pascal's performance, one that others have said was not full of ill will or cruelness or anything of that nature. He responded in a way that was over the top. That's my take of things. And, I have said it before and will say it again, if every single person who had said that what I originally posted wasn't so bad, ended up saying the opposite. I can assure you that I would have no issue saying I screwed up. But, that clearly isn't the case here.

It's completely unprofessional for him to do this. The status he wrote is fine but his responses in the comment section is just childish and stupid.
