Uh, two out of three of those sound like great ideas.

Broadway is nowhere near important or good enough, quality wise, to ever hope that Kendrick Lamar performs on it at the moment. It would be an insult to Kendrick, not an insult to Broadway, if Kendrick was a replacment in a (now) cog-in-the-machine broadway show.

Def the most random casting since all of the stunt castings in Cinderella, but good for him
My guess is the cast will be able to get him to break anytime they want...
I hear after this, they’re going to revive The Great Comet with Roker as Pierre.

Oof, you're trying really hard to be hilarious to absolutely no avail with this Roker casting!
I think it's random, but seeing Al Roker and Nicolette together for a few weeks in October might be cute...
Next up: Matt Lauer as Edward in Pretty Woman

Exactly! As random and odd as this is, I don't know why anyone is surprised or shocked, given that those two are the lead producers.
What next?
Robyn Roberts as Anastasia?

Has anyone seen him yet? I only saw a quick clip on the Today Show this weekend, but haven't heard any reviews.

Bumping this up to hopefully get some reviews of Al's performance!

I saw the show again this weekend and Al honestly isn't that bad. His Joe is a little more friendly and less grumpy than Dakin and the others but Take It From an Old Man was actually quite cute. Plus Al sings it in the original key which is a bit high so props to him!

I feel like that makes a lot of sense as an actor/character choice. Al Roker is literally sunshine, so I think people would be disappointed if he played it as a straight up crab-ass

I saw his second show. He was a lot better than expected. His Joe is cute, and his singing is surprisingly good.
Since it was his second show, I'm not sure if he's planning on changing it, but he doesn't allow a pause between "she lost the baby" and "close call", and I think the pause makes "close call" all the more jarring and surprising, so I was a bit disappointed he didn't incorporate that. Dakin is still my favorite, but I thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Roker and he was lovely at the stagedoor.
I saw him in it tonight and thought he was charming. Down to earth and folksy. Stunt casting to be sure, but not in a crass way.
