Jasmine new song sound a little like "Beyond my wildest dream" from "The little mermaid." I don't like Courtney Reed's voice especially when she tries to hold the note on "Wall" . Adam Jacobs sound very good as Aladdin.
Sabrelady, I too bought the recording in Toronto, and today just the digital download comes out. They were selling the physical cd, therefore, the release date for the physical copy is June 17th. So, I'm not expecting anything until then, at least.
"Ok ok ok ok ok ok ok. Have you guys heard about fidget spinners!?" ~Patti LuPone
I hadn't noticed this live, but aren't some of the Howard Ashman lyrics from Prince Ali missing? Which is strange because they seemed desperate to stretch out the Genie's numbers.
I only downloaded a few songs, but it sounds VERY well-produced. Parts of it almost sound like an animated feature's soundtrack.
My issues with the leads remain. Adam Jacobs can obviously sing, but his performance is just shockingly bland on an emotional song like "Proud of Your Boy." It's not his fault that the song is raced through, but he sings it like he's on American Idol, not making a promise to his dead mother. He's the kind of performer that musical theatre programs churn out now. That grating Broadway vibrato... Courtney Reed, meanwhile, doesn't even have the pipes in ADDITION to not being able to act.
My bad, Peter87. Tim must have been speaking about the new songs or a new song for "Beauty" but his lyrics for that were actually quite good, in my opinion.

They did take out the "Adjust your veil and prepare" line from the movie, interestingly. But unless there's a different Howard Ashman demo of Prince Ali, all of the lyrics in his version on The Music Behind the Magic album are there.

No they didn't. It's being sung by the chorus while Genie sings the "there's no question this Ali's alluring/never ordinary never boring" part. About 4:02 in the song.
Has anyone else noticed the similarity between the new song “Proud of Your Boy” and the opening phrase of “Thinking of Him” from Kander & Ebbs “Curtains“? Quite uncanny…..
"It's not where you start, it's where you finish!"

Ooh whoops, my bad! : ( Yay, you're right, the veils line is at 4:15. : DD Thank you! So the song is entirely intact! : )
[Proud of your boy was written as early as 1990 if not earlier. It's not a new song written for the property.]
Yeah, Proud of Your Boy would've had to be written before December 1989, since Humiliate the Boy was Howard Ashman's last song and it was recorded then.
HOLY CRAP!!! i just listened to Friend like me and OMG it is amazing! I love how they put all the classic disney tunes in the middle of it, and gave it an up-to-date feel with the “dancing with the stars” part! Hilarious! James Monroe Iglehart will win the Tony for that song alone!! Brilliant
