He really locked that down
Why has this become about Tudyk's star power or "pull"? He didn't like the way the show was progressing and he has the option, as an artist working on the show, to not continue in a show that is not working for him. Who cares how "big" Tudyk is?
Maybe he just wasn't working with his costars. I mean it's comedy. If there's no chemistry then it's a dud.

It seems people think leaving a show for “creative differences” is a power move. But like you said how famous someone is makes no difference. Creative differences could mean a lot of things

Actually you are incorrect. If he was in rehearsal, he had a contract --- and by breaking that contract he would be in breach and subject to a lawsuit by the producer. He had no "option" to leave if he wasn't happy. This was most likely a mutual decision --- and if not "mutual" it was a firing.

I'm not sure why people started thinking that Alan Tudyk has a big head and quit. The press release is very neutral. I'm guessing he got fired for whatever reason.
I think if he were let go because the director / writer / producers made a decision that the role needed to go in a different direction, the press release would have been more cushy. "Creative Differences" is old school, curt vernacular for 'people weren't getting along.' Maybe about the role, maybe personally, but it probably wasn't a terribly happy situation.

I think after all the Oak/Comet drama everyone's too eager to jump to conclusions.
Also, my favorite role of his is from Suburgatory. He's always seemed like a pretty dependable on screen actor to me. Not exactly a scene stealer but he makes the most of smaller roles.
I’m sure Benanti and Schumer are both behind this. Sisters sticking together as one in all this.

He'll always be Father to me.

I'm guessing you know this because you are familiar with his contract.

Hahahahahahahaha!
As you can guys tell, I know him best from all of the recent Disney movies. He'll always be King Candy to me :) So sad I won't see him.

Or just standard Broadway contracts, in general.

I would argue that he stole his scenes in Rogue One, the new Star Wars movie.
He was hilarious as the pirate in Dodgeball. Also caught him as Sir Lancelot in spamalot way back when. Bummed he's not a part of this production.

He'll always be the unremarkable looking guy for whom BWW lost their collective sh*t over to me.

Well, I don't know about collective, lol. It's been the same people on the same thread.

This is nothing compared to that Betsy Wolfe debacle.

And of course: Great Comet
Had to inject my one contact with Alan Tudyk here. After a performance of Epic Proportions in December 1999, myself and another guy waited at the stage door for him to emerge, and emerge he did, along with Jeremy Davidson, and he (Tudyk) was the nicest, most friendly guy. He shook hands, and said "Hi, I'm Alan.". Got a pair of autographs and walked off.
What's my point? Just remembering a really nice moment; that's all.
