Fantastic! Love Alfie Boe's Valjean. I'm not the biggest fan of Les Mis, but I might make a return visit for Alfie.

Not surprised since he was the first Valjean they approached for this. Amazing!
I was hoping for someone who can act...

This is wonderful news, may have to make a return visit to Les Mis now! Happened to catch Alfie at his final performance in the West End and he was brilliant!
YESSSSSSSSSS
I was hoping for someone with abs...
"I was hoping for someone with abs..."
HAHAHA.
ahaha they'll have to reconsider some choices
Why has this character turned into: looking for men who can sing who are also mechanics who look like they just came out from under a car. Ripped uniforms and abs preferable.Grease and dirt covered suggested. Beards and goatees, of course.

I really have had no interest in seeing this production until today.
What's that expression…it's like putting lipstick on a pig. ![]()
Now that they've cycled out the original cast and are putting someone really fantastic in as Valjean, I may have to reassess my dislike of this production.

It should be interesting how alfie does in this production. I wonder if he will have an alternate like Ramin
Also funny that Ramin took over for Alfie in London and now Alfie is taking over for Ramin in NY.

First off its a great move having Alfie to replace Ramin, just one problem Alfie is just like Ramin in regards to, he misses a lot of shows. I can almost guarantee he wont do all 8 shows per week. On top of he's a huge name and a lot of people will be paying a lot of money to see him perform, I just hope when I see him I wont get a white slip in my playbill saying he's out.

I wonder if he will have a steady a day he does not preform. If he does telecharge posts it on their website. Except if he was sick Ramin would tweet if he was off and vacations were also posted on telcharge.
If alfie does end up doing all 8 shows it would be sort of a demotion for the two alternates who got to perform every other week.
I'm pretty sure even dating back to 1987, Valjean has always had the option to take one performance off a week. It's just that not all of them did it (and certainly not all as publicly as Ramin, for better or for worse).

I'll start out by saying that I am big Les Miserables fan and anything related to it (sans the god awful movie) I find that, for some reason, I can't get enough. Same is true for this production. I have seen it more times than I care to admit. With all that said, when I've seen the show, Ramin was on when he was scheduled to do so. I'm not talking about any of his days off for voice rest or contracted other events that were posted online in advance.
With that said, I am wondering if there's the chance that people haven't been fully aware of when he was slated to be off or not and are confusing that with simply not showing up. Not saying that that's the case just wondering if that's a possibility.
I remember there being some posters on here who seemed a little taken aback with Ramin having an alternate as if it's something that hasn't been done before. Someone pointed out that that's common in London but it's more of a thing there and one that isn't made public and is viewed as no big deal.

He had it in his contract that he will only do 6 shows a week, when he performed it in London. But don't most Jean Val Jeans only do 6 shows anyway?

I honestly think that people are getting up in arms about this because they haven't A figured out when Ramin is supposed to or not supposed to be on. So, they feel that he is missing performances left and right when that's not the case. I am not sure 100 per cent if Ramin only was slated to do six performances rather than the full eight in London. But, I can tell you that on Broadway, since the beginning he was scheduled to do seven. This was, I believe unique to Broadway fans since Valjean was a role that was done, in the past eight times a week by the same person. I know that in London they have an alternate but it's not something that's advertised or made a big deal of like who goes on when etc, something that does happen here.
