I'm a huge Next to Normal fan...and I have loved Alice Ripley's performance as Diana each of the 10 times I have seen her. But please, guys...can't you think of another way of saying that she gave a great performance? The on fire bit is just overused.
Why don't you give us some suggestions?
What about "Alice Ripley was as good as the Peppermint Twist tonight"?

I might say that her performance moved me like no other I'd ever seen, or that she totally inhabited the character.
It just seems lazy to write Alice was on fire, as usual...when everyone always says that.
Well I think clearly we need some guidelines here.
For example, how many people can say "her performance moved me like no other" before that becomes lazy?
NO, REALLY - SHE'S ON FIRE! CALL 911!!!
/meh. Got nuthin'.
STOP, DROP AND ROLL, ALICE !!
What the fudge is a caharacter?!! Is that anything like a chiropractor?
She best not put anything flammable next to her head with all that crazy product that goes into her ADD Charlie Angels bob she's had going lately.
Oops Marquise...a typo. Thanks for noting my bad. And, touche...your post was funny and creative.
I guess other things we could say would be (and I am just trying to be funny):
Alice ripped my heart out.
Alice was white hot.
Alice was the bomb.
Alice was a maniac, maniac on the floor.
Alice blew the roof off that sucker.
Alice was so good I exploded all over the Booth balcony.
Alice was money.
Alice was off the chain.
Alice was OVAH.
"Alice was so good I exploded all over the Booth balcony"
So she's giving bj's in the balcony now? I thought that only happened at American Idiot.
Gator - I am glad you enjoy the show, but 10 times??? That boarders on obsessive. Especially when there are 35 other shows running right now.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
10 times is not obsessive. How do you know Gator hasn't seen other shows? I know of someone who saw Wicked over 200 times in LA. That's obsessive.
I think 10 is a pretty low number for the fangirls of this show.
I've only gone this number of times because I take such joy in sharing it with my friends. Each time I've brought different friends with me. People from work, friends from DC...it gives me a lot of happiness to "give" this show to other people. Now, people who I have taken with me, want to share it with their friends, and so I keep going back. It also helps that it's on TDF.
Don't worry, I have my list of things that I plan to "get to" before Tony Award time.
Oh...and I prefer to be called either SuperFanBoy or the Invisible Fangirl.
You don't like the saying yet you started a thread about lol
Well, they could at least say if she's a 5 or 6 alarm fire and if the firemen were hot or not.

"You obviously have never heard of Val(DefyGravity777)."
Wow I am talked about in a Next to Normal thread.
Well you obviously have never heard of Nick(adamgreer) then either. He has seen Next to Normal and Wicked A LOT more than me. I'd venture over 50 times for Next to Normal and close to 100 for Wicked.
If Alice is on fire someone should throw water on her.
"Alice Ripley, Alice Ripley, Alice Ripley, Alice Ripley, Alice Ripley, Alice Ripley, Alice Ripley, Alice Ripley, Alice Ripley
We didn't start the fire
It was always burning
Since the world's been turning
We didn't start the fire
No we didn't light it
But we tried to fight it"
"Alice made dookie on the stage of the Booth, but it was during her Tony-winning performance, so it's cool!"
