I read both boards on a daily basis. I don't post on either one too frequently, I just don't have time. I do think there are some very smart, insightful people on All That Chat (as I do here) but I can't help but agree that there's also an unpleasant degree of arrogance and condescension which is at times off-putting. On the flip side I do think there is sometimes name calling and unnecessary insults which go on on here which I wish the moderators would control a bit more. In essence, both boards have strengths; they both have weaknesses.
Although I post on both boards, I enjoy BWW a lot more. I was chewed out by a Board member from Arena stage when I said on ATC that I didn't particularly care for their production of "The Light in the Piazza". They tend to be a bit more sanctimonious over there.

Did your colleagues enjoy the cake even though your cat decided to sit on it? ~GuyfromGermany
The only difference I see between the two boards is this one is funnier. No one over there has a sense of humor.
I also like the longevity of threads here.
But both have their share of Miss Grundys who like to attack others for being morally or intellectually inferior to themselves.
But as far as getting "information" from either - even a press release is an altered form of reality; it's best to treat everything you read as a rumor or opinion, and then judge for yourself whether you find it an entertaining rumor/opinion or not.
It is interesting how much media attention ATC being down is creating. It wasn't that many years ago that BWW was hacked regularly, but the media wasn't blogging about that kind of stuff back then.
"What was the name of that cheese that I like?"
"you can't run away forever...but there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start"
"well I hope and I pray, that maybe someday, you'll walk in the room with my heart"
I've followed both boards for several years, and I've posted on ATC but not here. I didn't want to seem redundant. But, to me, it seems there's good information to be gained from both boards and from many different people's perspectives. And, as soon as the posts on either board start straying from my particular interests or start getting rude, I move on. In any case, to all of you, many of your thoughts have been appreciated over the last few years, and I'm sorry I never took the time to thank you.
As to why ATC gets more "press" than BWW... I think it's very simple. I think the general viewpoint out there is that ATC is where a lot of industry folk hang out, and BWW is more of a "fan forum."
On a more serious note, I just tried the ATC board and got a new sign-in page which, when I attempted it, got me into all kinds of complications. I shut down my computer immediately, thinking I'd been zapped. So far it appears not but be warned. Don't go near it - yet!
After I post a message about updates to my website, "Memories of Melody Top," on both this site and "All That Chat" I closely watch my statistics page. Of all the visitors to my site, 2/3 of them come from "All That Chat" and 1/3 come from this site. I am posting this information for those who enjoy statistical information. LOL! I think that perhaps one reason it has more prestige is that All That Chat has been around quite a lot longer than Broadway World. ATC members have been dissecting shows, critics, and each other since 1997, and I believe BroawayWorld was founded in 2003.
Older isn't necessarily better and it definitely isn't bigger, but ATC's endurance might give it some cachet. Updated On: 1/16/11 at 01:53 PM
I got that e-mail too and was wondering what it was.
"You pile up enough tomorrows, and you'll find you are left with nothing but a lot of empty yesterdays. I don't know about you, but I'd like to make today worth remembering." --Harold Hill from The Music Man
I hope they post something warning of this email. I receive it too and just deleted it. This is turning into something more bigger than they can handle. What a true mess for everyone......
I got the e-mail and realized it was viral before clicking on it. But I really enjoy both of the boards and hope ATC gets back on its feet ASAP...I don't wish computer viruses on any theater geeks; even though I've run into nasty posters occasionally on both boards, I think most folks are helpful and honestly nice.
