Older people post here as well. I saw a very early performance of I CAN GET IT FOR YOU WHOLESALE without knowing any thing about Barbra Streisand. Even as a featured player, Streisand was thrilling...my guess is that everyone who saw her in those very early days remembers their first reaction: complete awe and wonderment. I imagine is was like when Merman first appeared on Broadway in GIRL CRAZY in 1930.

Ok everyday I come online and see this thread. Why are you guys still here?
Older people post here as well.
And there are white people in Chinatown and straight people in the Castro. What's your point?

Does anybody know when this thread will be back up? Is there a donation button?
On Monday, they had an update which said that they were working on the last few "fixes" and expected to be back "sometime on Tuesday, Jan. 25." Never happened. Last night, they posted a similar update:
"All That Chat status: We are finalizing a few more fixes, and looking at opening tomorrow, Wednesday, January 26."
Not as yet (11:15 EST)
It looks like it's up (restarting here, restarting now) BUT... it looks like it'll be a while until there's another post because I get a screenfull of errors when I click the button to reverify my login.
Reverification button fixed. It's revived.

No. Try again. Hahaha!

What do you mean "No. Try again"? Re-read this thread. It is far more likely that some disgruntled poster who got bounced from ATC hacked them than any industry person, as others have suggested. Some of the vitriol in this thread is really unreasonable, and while I doubt we'll ever know, it would not surprise me at all if it were someone from BWW who did it. Who really has a reason to do such a petty, nasty thing as this? What purpose does it serve?

Great meeting you MarkBearSF. Don't let the door hit you, etc.

Namo, do you have any rational reason for being so hostile to a newcomer here? MarkBearSF is posting about the subject. You are posting about a poster, with an animosity that makes no sense. Yet another thing ATC has over this board. If it isn't about theater, or on topic, it's gone. Never mind the pointless uncalled-for nastiness.

My point exactly, and if you don't like it, am-scray, see?

"Never mind the pointless uncalled-for nastiness."
That could be ATC's subtitle!

You know, I used to like you, Tulita.
eta: let's have a BWW subtitle contest!

Hee Hee! You know I'm right, ghostlight!
I post there pretty infrequently these days, but it lost a lot of its appeal for me when they banned chekky supposedly "just" over his comments that he *really* disliked Lauren Graham.

Was that why? I thought it was because he was an over-caffeinated lunatic gnat who wasted bandwidth while bouncing off walls - not that there's anything wrong with that. Chekky I can abide. He has a brain in his head, generally isn't too insulting, and is pretty damn funny. He is annoying as hell, but that I can handle. Poor manners are tougher for me to take. [Sidney Poitier] They call me Miss Grundy [/Sidney Poitier]. They don't seem to like chekky much here, either, btw.
I resolutely stand my ground, however, Pepsi. Both boards have their share of pointless nastiness, but you need only look a few posts up to see it manifested in the most pointless of nastiness here. A new poster, coming in share new germaine information on the subject in question, is basically told to get lost by an old time poster for no apparent reason at all.
I defy you to defend that - over lunch or an early cocktail. When's good for you? And how about that BWW subtitle contest? You first...

Errrr, ghostlight, you don't think that calling someone "a lunatic gnat who wasted bandwidth while bouncing off walls" qualifies as "pointless, uncalled for nastiness?"

If those were originally my words, or I'd meant it to hurt him, sure. One of the posters on ATC (not myself) used that phrase to describe chekky shortly before he was banned. Sorry I did not include an emoticon to show I was joking. I have known chekky for a long time. I like chekky fine, and what's more, he would probably agree with that assessment of him. Were he to take offense, I would abjectly apologize, even though the description is not mine. You neglect to mention I also called him intelligent and funny. Sorry I caused confusion by neglecting to include quotes and proper attribution.
eta: just so we're clear, I still adore TulitaPepsi, too.

Oh ghostlight, since when is chasing people off the boards a problem with you, of all people?
I said, "Good day!"
I know it's much less fun, but we could save our nastiness and vitriol for artists and shows rather than other posters and their opinions.

All I did was say so long to a poster who joined the board to talk about another board that was down. It's back up, ergo, nice meeting you.
If someone signed into one of my classes just because the 'other professor' was sick and then wouldn't stop talking about said professor and THEN was incredilby excited for them to be back....I'd have said the same thing. Kind of rude. (But not the worst offender I've ever read!)
