I think it’s safe to assume she and her team are now focusing on higher profile projects and being strategic with her career now. No one knows what the future holds but it’s wise to ride her current wave before it levels off again. Every career does and she knows it all too well as so do other artists who’ve seen that rise and fall tradition. Gotta take advantage when the iron is hot instead of “taking a break.”

They are already on sale if you create your own concert series of at least four shows.

She is also doing royal Albert hall in London just beforehand. Almost seems like the dress rehearsal for NYC c hall.

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

Is this a thing we do for all Tony winners on here? Seems like we'd have a ton of individual threads if we started one for every Tony-winner just for funzies. Not saying you can't be a fan of hers or want to follow her career. It just seems super arbitrary lol

There definitely have been threads dedicated to one performer before. I just feel like there wouldn't be this response if this was about, like, Sutton Foster or someone. We live in a world where she has a Tony. Whatever she brings to Broadway next is going to be a big deal. Let the lil Nicole stannies have their fun.

I guess I'm skeptical that there will BE a "whatever she brings to Broadway next"...

See... it's not about Sutton Foster is it? I haven't seen this kind of over the top anticipation for a career like... ever? Seems like everyone just got whipped up in flurry of Nicole in Sunset that don't believe she'll actually be able to deliver on.

I’m not a fan of hers, I just started the thread cause it’s better than people bringing up the old Sunset Blvd ones.  It’s been interesting seeing the broadway establishment rally behind her.  She had all these little Broadway groupies for months. Oh darn, she’s already forgotten them.

In defense of this thread, I'm interested because while Nicole has hovered around the musical theater/Broadway sphere for a while, she has never broken through quite like this and I DO find it exciting to think of what she might have coming up.  Whether she delivers on the anticipation is a different matter, but we'd have to know what projects she'd be attached to first before determining whether they live up to the hype or if Sunset was a one off for her.

Super exciting time for her. At the final performance I ‘heard’ how much excitement in the delivery and reaction to “I’ll be back” where she was ‘Born to be’ was. Maybe she will explore other projects first, but I would not be shocked to see her back in a Kiss of the Spider Woman revival in a few years.

I continue to laugh at her ‘haters’. Nicole literally proved she is one of the greatest Broadway performers of all time in this one role. She runs circles around most Broadway veterans with her talent and star presence. She beat Audra in Gypsy for gods sake. To me it seems embarrassingly petty and ridden in jealousy and mediocrity for someone to just dismiss her achievements or talent.

She is a cross between Judy Garland and Whitney Houston.

Im not really sure I get the Sutton Foster comparisons. Nicole is currently peaking in her career and has raised the bar with a brand new unique sound on Broadway. Sutton Foster is at a different point career wise, and she never had Nicole’s voice anyway. The only people I would even put in the same category of Nicole in terms of vocal standards and unique timbre are people like Audra, Jennifer H, Cynthia E, Patti, Bernadette in her peak mid 90s etc. this is not child’s play or just ‘another actor’.

Time to put down the bottle, binau. Glad that you love her, but "one of the greatest Broadway performers of all time" is, frankly, insane. A cross between Judy Garland and Whitney Houston? Wild. Also, to assert that someone must be jealous of her to have not enjoyed her performance is ridiculous.

A strong performance in one role qualifies someone as one of the greatest Broadway performers of all time?  If true, the bar is being set very low for such a sweeping accolade as is the assertion that she runs circles around most Broadway veterans.

To be fair, had Barbra Streisand only done Funny Girl, she would still be one of the greatest Broadway performers of all time. (As it stands, she's only done one other show besides FG).

To be fair, I don't know that I'd consider Barbra one of the greatest BROADWAY performers of all time. I'd consider he one of the greatest performers of all time, without the qualifier. I'd say she gave one of the singular great Broadway performances, but when I think of who the greatest Broadway performers of all time are, I think of the greats with a resume of iconic roles a mile long.

Audra lost the award, and her production is closing as a flop of epic proportions. Let them have their thread on Nicole.

Yes, because we’re Audra shills, that must be it.  You’ve also got annoying people taking swipes at Sutton Foster on here as well.  Sutton will eventually overtake Angela Lansbury with most leading actress in a musical Tony’s.  Foster already has two, and will surely win a third for SUTTON GYPSY.  Then there’s all the new musicals she’s working on.

There is no world in which a Sutton Foster Gypsy will ever be on Broadway now. By the time it’s ready to revive, which will be a long time after the Audra Gypsy - if ever - Sutton will be aged out. Her voice already is experiencing mild decline.
