Spoke to a customer service rep and they said that roundabout will only be producing 1776 but have rented out both studio 54 where pictures from home will play and American Airlines in the spring for a show. Any ideas of what it will be?

A few guesses: Dancin’, Sing Street, or High Noon. Cabaret is also a possibility, although they may want an even smaller theatre and would be willing to wait for the right one (Hudson or Lyceum?) and for renovations. Just some thoughts.

Wow! Is this the 1st rental at the American Airlines since Roundabout started operating it? If not, it’s definitely the first one in a while. This is definitely out of the norm; what’s going on at Roundabout?
As for what’s going there in the spring, I think we can rule out any open runs, so Dancin’, Sing Street, and Cabaret are probably out of the question. I don’t think Roundabout would want to put their prime playhouse unavailable any later than fall 2023.

Fat Ham is doing a reading for armed forces members at this theatre on November 7.
Perhaps they are doing it partly to keep interest up for a Broadway transfer? Marcel Spears should be available again in the Spring once filming of the current season of the TV show (CBS's The Neighborhood) he is on wraps.
I enjoyed it, but I found the ending forced. Is Nikki Crawford the actress who played the mother? She was great & could get a Tony nomination for supporting if this went to Broadway.

Funny enough, that someone in the "Notebook" thread, mentioned it playing the Music Box starting Valentine's Day. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

I wonder whether Roundabout is in financial trouble that the skipped almost an entire season; or did they spend too much $$$ on 1776 in hopes of having a great success???

It’s definitely not looking good for them from the outside looking in. Especially if they have to refund all of the memberships they already sold promising tickets to 3 Broadway shows when they’ve only managed to produce one. I guess it’s possible they could co-produce two productions in the Spring (could see them rejoining Parade as co-producers if that does indeed transfer) and use those shows to fulfill their season requirements. But that’s just speculation on my part- we’ll have to see what happens.

To be fair this is the third show someone has listed as coming to this theater in the Spring. So until multiple people start confirming a rumor, I would take all these rumors with a grain of a salt.

because a friends local theater is doing a spring NYC trip and Pal Joey is listed as one of the shows they are seeing, this is a revival that has loose Roundabout connections as they have been doing readings

They don’t sell group tickets to unannounced shows. That defeats the purpose of announcing a show.

I’m perplexed as to why Roundabout would even want to do Pal Joey again.
