Don't know how long they're going to have it up, but it's pretty spectacular. Take a listen!

I just started listening. I think they should have included parts of the TV sounds before starting the opening song.
sgv123, what browser are you using? I usually use Google Chrome, but I had the same problem, so I opened it in Internet Explorer and it worked fine.

Thanks, I use GC too...works on IE for me now.
There are some parts of this that I'm really digging. Like the string arrangment in "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and then I hit parts of the original album that I love that are barely audible in the cast recording.
I've seen the show twice now and I still don't know if I liked it or not.

I'm only going to listen to about 3 songs so I feel more optimistic about the show when I see. Obviously, you can't get the full feeling of the songs in a scaled down recording.
21 Guns sounds pretty nice. :)
The arrangement sounds great- but like was said in the other thread, the producing is sorely lacking. The mix isn't like any rock style mix at all. But the cast is amazing!
btws- Anyone having serious doubts about whether to purchase this since if they already own the original Green Day albums that the songs are on? It feels like a bit of a decadence to me....
Oops. I accidentally recorded it.

It's mixed, recorded and produced like a Glee album. It's missing all dialogue, yelling and screaming, and Alyssa Umphress's real ending to "Too Much Too Soon". "Before the Lobotomy", probably one of the most emotionally moving songs in the show, is completely neutered.
But who am I to complain? It's an American Idiot cast album. That makes everything a little better.
I'm halfway through listening and I don't plan on buying it. I really don't like the orchestrations or sound mixing (which I didn't like in the theater either), so I'll stick with my CD from 6 years ago.

Oh, and why the hell did they change "sh!t" to "JEEZ." when they use "f***" so many other times on the album?
My God.
What song are you talking about with that change?
And yeah, ditto to probably sticking to the CD from 6 years ago....

Katurian, it's in "Homecoming", specifically leading into "Rock and Roll Girlfriend".
I'm biased, but Stark Sands is amazing. He got the best track.
I like it. I wish it sounding rougher but what can you do. I'm going to get it because I don't have the album from six years ago and I enjoy the orchestra and the harmonies and voices(apart from them sounding to clean). I also enjoy having characters and a bunch of people singing.
Which song does Stark sing? I am not to familiar with his voice.

I got a message about a limited amount of Rhapsody plays, leaving me not enough to listen to the whole album. Anybody else get that?
^Have you listened to some other Rhapsody stuff this month? It is giving me twenty-five plays, which should be enough to listen to the entire album. It is giving me message ever four songs or so saying "You have ___ plays left" though.

I haven't, that's the weird thing...

God. The vocals and the music always sound so unconnected on rock cast recordings. Maybe especially here, like it's a karaoke track they're singing over.
I can get a good sense that it'd work live, though.

By making it all GLEE like and taking out the curses, they are obviously trying to appeal to the young kids. Sad. The integrity of the music is being dismantled. But I love the musical and Green Day album.

At the end of "Homecoming" leading into "Rock and Roll Girlfriend," on the album, the lyric, I believe, IS "oh geez," not "oh ****." Am I misunderstanding what someone means here?
I haven't gotten a chance to listen to the whole thing yet, but I do believe that some of what I've heard sounds a bit too polished. Then again, let's remember, it was produced by Green Day. This is how they intended it to sound. So... there must be a reason for that!
