Off with Nick Manos's head!
“However, cancellations are a part of the fabric of the theater business,” the statement continued, “and we are working with the other theaters on repayment plans for their pre-production advances.”
Yes, cancellations ARE part of the business, but spending advance money from another company on a different production and saying "we'll get the money back to you when we can" isn't. Nor is keeping your dire situation from those other companies who are then blindsided when you cancel a production with no advance notice when they have that show in a slot on their production schedule.
This goes well beyond incompetent producing.

Hmm...wonder if they'll even *mention* this in either the Fort Worth Star Telegram or Dallas Morning News?
A rumor circulated yesterday that TOTS might go out of business because of this. I doubt it will happen though.
this was a case of out and out deception. it's misappropriation of funds. it was earmarked to be used for the upcoming production of TARZAN and instead TOTS took it upon themselves to take the money and use it for whatever they damned well pleased.
this is truly f*cked up on their part. i hope they get their pants sued off.

I am feverishly working on a possible grassroots campaign; a former AMT prop guy whom I've befriended on Facebook made this page after midnight last night.

"Do not" send any money ... legally, AMT cannot accept donations now.
But, join! Please!
What's your plan?

Still working; I'll let you all know when we get somewhere huge.
But, so far, things are starting out nicely and at a good pace.

Hi all,
Welcome to our many, many new members! Nearly 300 in less than 24 hours is a totally awesome accomplishment.
Suggestions for the campaign? Post them as a reply to our topic on the Discussion Board.
We need a webmaster for a potential website; let me know if you are interested.
This was posted on the wall earlier today by Jesse Vail:
"I just spoke with Michael Miller over the phone and the chances that we can stop this from happening are slim to none... but I planted the seed and told him what we are doing here.
He also said something similar to what Daniel said below that our only choice is to one day just build a new AMT from scratch.
Another important piece of information and I will post this in another format soon: Chances are that AMT will be sold in pieces at an auction SOON! Many of these things have NO VALUE OUTSIDE THE THEATRE WORLD AND WILL BE THROWN AWAY! Please start talking to the theatres you are involved with. Encourage them to go to the auction. They will be selling stuff extremely cheap. I'm sure we'd all agree that we would rather have these items benefit other theatres than filling landfills!"
I really commend Jesse here ... the great thing about building another AMT is that we can let it begin with the 74th season; after all, it will still be AMT, with the same mission statement, aspirations, etc, etc!
We can do it, guys; we are blessed with so many people who consider AMT to be one of the most prominent figures in the very rich, cultural heritage of live musical theatre, and that is definitely a truly awesome benefit.
More information to come! Keep on promoting this cause!

Wait. I know you didn't write this (although you may as well have), but...
Generally people who buy stuff at auctions don't end up dumping it right away.
How is auctioning something off synonymous with ending up in a landfill?

tmm_fan, i think what you're doing is great. but can i kindly request that you take some stuff out of your signature? it's longer than your posts...
It won't work. He's been asked many times before.

Other users here have ones that are also long, so I'd rather not ... no offense :)
As for the auction, he just means that the items should go to theatres, and not anywhere else.

If you won't read certain stuff because of a message board signature...
I'm not deleting it :)

Yes...
And I shall not be swayed :)
tmm_fan don't be swayed. when members join the board there is an option regarding message board signatures. they need to exercise that option instead of trying to censor.

...and the option to present yourself rambling like a crazy lunatic trying to talk to voices in your head.
It look very unprofessional.
