"Is there any comparison between Bridges of Madison County and American Psycho regarding closing dates and then a tour?"
Well, Bridges got a Tony for Best Score. Psycho ain't gettin' no awards. It's maybe possible that some producer, short on sense and long on enthusiasm, might send out a little non-Equity tour, but they would need to be prepared to take a huge financial bath, because there probably aren't many markets who would book a techno snuff musical.
Do not get me wrong. We loved the show and it deserved better buy nothing you can do at this point but to accept the reality of the situation.
did Bridges do well on tour? I saw it just 2 weeks ago in Lansing on a Saturday night and the place was half-full. The only other thing I've seen there was West Side Story in 2011 so I'm not sure how well shows usually sell there but I was surprised to see it so empty.
i highly doubt Psycho will tour, it seems much too urban to even hope to do well outside the cities.

Bridges played to full houses in Des Moines but the bridges in Madison County are in Iowa. I doubt it will do as well without that connection

Can anyone think of a regional theater where you'd like to see this show?

I could see the very small New Line Theater here in St. Louis, whose director seems to have a chip on his shoulder about shows that failed on Broadway and loves to do unknown and failed work seemingly based on their unknown-ness and commercial failure rather than their quality (the theater is currently producing Atomic), being all over this. Their audience is far different than that of the big touring house here, and they play in a 200 seat theater vs. the 5000+ seats in our touring house.

But that sounds like you are talking about producing their own version, not hosting a tour.

Actually, didn't they end up cutting short the tour? I believe there are only a handful of dates left.
I can't see American Psycho touring at all (I know for one that my subscriber parents in the south would HAAAAAATE it). But I could maybe see it moving to Vegas?

Bridges? It is ending soon, yes.

It was always supposed to be nine months
I'd love a Toronto production. I hope someone does one there. My favorite show of last season but it would never fly in a subscription house. When many touring houses sent letters to patrons for Spring Awakening and offered them tickets to other shows in lieu of it in case they'd be offended, you know there is no place for American Psycho. The best we can hope for is some fantastic regional productions.

Yeah, that's what I thought the question about a regional theater where this could work was asking, but maybe I misread. I wholeheartedly agree that a tour would not go over well at all.
Bridges design also makes it easy to tour. No tracks. The set flies in and is moved by the actors.
Psycho would have to be redesigned to tour as it was very specific for that theater and it would also have to be restaged. Which would take time and money. So doubt it.
It will get a couple of large regional productions by the more edgy theatre's and I'm guessing it will come back to the UK. I think small regional companies around the world will do this. I honestly think it will have a pretty good future.
I actually suspect the majority of productions we see popping up regionally are by universities.
I agree what others have said--it won't tour, but it could do very well with productions by larger regional theater groups. This isn't something that we'll see at The Muny, but would some place like TUTS Underground in Texas do it? Absolutely. Does a production in LA seem unlikely? Not at all.
I see the show becoming popular as production in colleges. Many university productions want to create more versatile actors by having them perform in pieces perceived as edgy, difficult, or avant garde. On top of that, it's material that's incredibly appearing to many 20somethings.

I could see Arena Stage in DC doing it, especially a in-the-round production of the show.

Definitely could see 5th Ave Theater in Seattle having this in their 17-18 season
