No doubt about it - 2013 Best Actress in a Musical Tony Award - Amy Adams. Donna Murphy would probably be nominated too though...
Get "her" Tony? Like it's been deprived of her for years now? She's great but let's wait and see how her performance is. The Bakers Wife is one of the trickiest roles in all of American Musical Theatre to pull off and even some really great actresses can't get it right.
Glad to know there's "no doubt about it."
Peter's behind the times. Let's talk turkey about 2014.

Why is the baker's wife one of the trickiest roles in Musical theatre?
Wow! I had no idea Musicaldudepeter had magical powers!! Cool!!!
/sarcasm
What about whoever plays Loretta Lynn? That's got to be a great role.
But I'll make a prediction too:
Amy will sing in Into The Woods.
There. I said it. I know it's early in the season, but I'm sticking by it.
I wonder if he can predict what color panties she will be wearing when she accepts this Tony that she has been so mysteriously deprived of?

Girls who wear panties don't get awards.
Maybe Jan needs to go commando this year then.
Didn't help last time...didn't you see her getting out of her limo?
And if it DOES transfer, how do you know her committments will allow HER to do so? Can we at least wait until someone actually sees her in the role?
And I am certain that whoever is cast as the Baker will definitely win the Tony- and the Oscar when they decide to film the production as I am certain they will.
I got all this from the Mayans by the way.
Well, thank God that's settled.
No doubt about it! There will be no other musicals next season with any other lead actress roles. Heck, Into the Woods won't even have to transfer and Amy will win a Tony. She's THAT good in the part already! Anyone who doesn't think so is just jealous and has no class. Amy Adams is a LOCK.
What about Mrs. Anna (Kelli O'Hara)?

I have doubts.

I second this and would love to see a thread on what IS a tricky role. I imagine Spiderman must have tricky roles given the setup.
The Baker's Wife is a probably one of the better roles in the show. She has a good arc, her songs are meaningful and she gets some good jokes. Adams will be micced and we've heard her sing.
There will be no Tony Awards in 2013, not much of anything for that matter - what with the world ending this year.

Amy's Tony is in Jan Maxwell's bag.

Probably best to wait until she actually gives a performance. Just because the originator won, doesn't mean the revival star will.....see "Evita"
Second that @Leadingplayer and see the last revival of Into the Woods. Who got a Tony there? No one!

I think the role is tricky because Joanna Gleason did such an interesting job in the original and the performance was videotaped so everybody can compare later performers to Gleason's version.
I AM THANKFUL FOR THIS THREAD THANKS
