Here's what Amy said about the possibility of the show coming to Broadway and if she would do it, "I’d definitely consider it,” says Adams, who is featured this week in EW’s Best of Summer issue. “I just try to take it one day at a time. I literally have to take it hour-by-hour right now, I’m so busy. But yeah, I would definitely consider it. That would be amazing.”
This would be her Broadway debut. But she has come close before to performing on the Great White Way before. “I auditioned a lot for Broadway before I started working in film,” she says. “I actually got very close to being Julia Guglia in The Wedding Singer on Broadway. And the same summer I was cast in Enchanted. [The Wedding Singer] went to Laura Benanti, and I was so excited because I have a lot of respect for people who make [theater] their living.”

I agree that it is a tricky role. I saw four women to play it during the original Broadway run — all of the actresses to play it except Lauren Mitchell — and I saw Mary Gordon Murray and Judy McLane on tour. I also saw Mary Gordon Murray on Broadway.
They all brought interesting qualities to it, and I probably liked Kay McClelland and Judy McLane as much as Gleason. Murray was also quite good. Cynthia Sikes was the least effective but even she was OK. But no one got the laughs that Gleason got and no one made getting those laughs appear so effortless. And, as mentioned, everyone can watch her do it in the video. Although I think that the video doesn't quite capture how good she was.

The Baker's Wife could always be in the Featured Actress Category...so she may not even go up against Finneran.
As for her not getting cast in "The Wedding Singer" and then getting "Enchanted"...she might want to thank the casting people of the "The Wedding Singer" for not casting her in that flop which lead to her 'star-making role'!!!
Also...If this transfers this summer, I'm sure the show will close before the end of the year (though I could be wrong!)...so who knows if she'll even hold up against the shows running at the time of the Tony's.
Jan Maxwell and Danny Burstein are going to tell that tale!!!
