I'm confused... Next season seems quite crowded, what shows are for sure opening, and what shows are rumored without a theatre solidified? 2008/2009 season seems very full...
Confirmed:
godspell
equus
Tale of 2 cities
billy elliot
country girl
Boeing-Boeing
shrek
vanities
Rumored:
west side story
dancin'
9 to 5
enchanted
the wiz
bye bye birdie
anything goes
Have I missed anything?

The Country Girl and Boeing Boeing are this season, and both have theaters confirmed.
Shrek has the Broadway, Tale of Two Cities has the Hirschfield, and Equus has the Broadhurst.

Country Girl begins previews a week from tomorrow and opens April 27. Boeing-Boeing begins previews April 19 and opens May 4. They're considered part of this season.
9-to-5 starts over the summer at the Amhanson.
Godspell will take a Shubert Theater and open over the summer.
Two Cities starts previews in August, to open in September, at the Hirschfeld.
Billy Eliot starts in September at the Imperial.
Shrek starts in November at the Broadway.
Equus starts in September at the Broadhurst.
West Side Story opens in Spring 09, following a tryout in Dec. 08
Dancin' starts in mid-09 at Studio 54.
Enchanted is not even close to a rumor.
The Wiz is postponed, now that Des is the director of the Stratford Festival.
Birdie isn't happening.
Anything Goes will happen once the Miller opens. Maybe.

Enchanted? As in the movie musical which came onto DVD this past Tuesday starring Amy Adams? As a STAGE musical?
Did you make that up?

If all the rumored/confirmed new musicals open, we'll have:
9 to 5
Billy Elliot
Busker Alley (would be considered a new musical, correct?)
Catch Me If You Can
Dancing In The Dark
Next To Normal
Phantom Sequel
Shrek
Spiderman
Tale Of Two Cities
Vanities
Am I forgetting anything?

Posted: 3/26/08 at 8:27pmclearly, if disney were to do thier next musical NEXT season, it would obviusly be Hunchback, considerring that it's been the only one with rumors spreading from both Shwatrz and Menken. Otherwise, newsies. Of course there's always the possibility of High School Musical moving into the nederlander, making it an interesting year, with HSM3 and the tour of HSM2, plus the ice tour, AND HSM on Broadway.

I thought Phantom sequel and Spiderman were rumored for two seasons from now...
Spiderman definitely isn't next season...its 09-10.
Don't forget Harry Connick Jr and Kathleen Marshall's revival of "Oh, Kay!" which will play under a different name.
