Per Patti Lupone.

so is ALW actually an alcoholic or is Patti just b*tching out on him because of Sunset Blvd? I actually wouldn't be surprised if he actually were an alcoholic.
This is spectacular. I love her brutal honesty. She will literally say anything.
That's funny - when I watched that video my first thought was, "Patti's drunk."
^ Hardly. I actually found her remarkably articulate (more in the latter half).
To be fair, I was at work and could only watch the first couple of minutes.
I too found he very articulate and very much was riveted by her discussion. I am seriously considering buying her book after this! She does bring up some very wonderful thoughts about theatre, actors projecting, the art form in general.
And THIS is why I must get the audio book as opposed to the actual book.
What the hell decade did BookExpo America travel back to for their theme music??? Makes the old Vestron Video promo seem positively edgy.

I'm admittedly very biased, but I could probably sit and listen to her talk for hours. I always find her very articulate and insightful, especially when she's talking about theatre.
She does have a somewhat rambling style, and she likes to laugh. I could certainly see someone thing "WTF?" on first encountering that.
I bet Crown's legal department is being put through their paces.
The moderator of this discussion certainly looked a little "WTF?" when she cracked up after saying that she wasn't a writer. Standard reaction for Patti, but definitely confusing for someone not familiar with her personality.
I adore her as a performer, but I can find her tedious to listen to. I think I'll read the book rather than listen to it.
I think it's that she gets so preachy about her "craft", and I dont think she's particularly funny.
I also think the interviewer is a boob.
I don't want to hear her read it. I'd rather read it out loud doing my Patti impression. It will add a whole new dimension to her story.
^ A friend and I have been declaiming made-up passages for some time now.
According to ATC, Patti will indeed be in Women on the Verge this fall. It's going to have such an amazing cast. If it's any good, I hope it can extend and run through Tony time.
Also so much for posters saying "Patti is only doing the workshop as a favor to LCT, she will be in a play this fall."
