There's some interesting and some very weird stuff in here... I like the ideas of subsidized reduced price tickets to get shows back open and love the idea of more streaming.

Agreed. It really sounds like he asked somebody on his team who grew up in a city with a touring house to come up with these ideas.

Seat naming? Perhaps for the nonprofits that could possibly work, but once a seat is sold, then that’s it forever. And who will want a seat other than front and center?

Subscription seats? Again, somebody on his staff thinks Broadway runs like their touring house back home. So Ticketmaster and telecharge would have to unite for that to work and it would really discourage repeat viewings since people would only go with their subscriptions. Basically new shows would last 6 months or so til the subscriptions ran out.

The only thing that sounds good is buying all the tix for first responders like they did after 9/11.

Utter nonsense.

Yang is completely out of touch and wants to run NYC like a giant startup. I really hope someone else is able to thwart his leftover presidential run popularity.

I doubt it's directly with any of the productions. They most likely have a ticket vendor they use, or at best they might have direct access to the Shuberts/Nederlanders/Jujamcyn.

At least he's thinking about the theater community and has a plan, regardless of how achievable some of it might be. And anyone who thinks he doesn't have a chance of winning the NYC mayoral race is seriously out of touch.

You beat me to it. He's in the lead for two reasons: name recognition and the fact most New Yorkers aren't paying much attention to the race yet.

When I first heard he was running I was actually pretty excited, because a good many of his ideas are what the nation needs, but thanks to a friend who pays attention to the political sphere like a hawk (I pay attention, but not with the insane detail my friend does), led to me to lots of info as why he really doesn't know anything about what he's doing in this mayoral campaign and absolutely shouldn't be voting for him. Sad really, because he has some good ideas...but just generally.
