A GAY character? Well, that's definitive proof. He was just pretending to be bi all this time! Philly was right. My apologies, Philly, you wise, young sage.

Who cares if the character is gay? . I liked that pilot, so I'll definitely tune in.

I'm pretty sure HorseTears was being sarcastic. After all, no one can run with the argument that acting a homo/hetero-sexual makes it so...

My comment was to Wildcard. Andy Mientus to Play DC Comics Villain on The CW's THE FLASH (bww headline) would have been fine.

Ah, noted. This forum application doesn't have proper quoting capabilities...
In that context, I don't see the point either. Straight people play gays and vice versa all the time.

I wasn't commenting on the ongoing argument in this thread. I don't care if he's bi, gay, or whatever. It's more so that a comic book show has a gay character is more interesting to me (happily so)

Fair enough. I've never been into the comic book hero genre thing, just can't wrap my head around the gaudiness of it all.

As a straight man with no bisexual friends (I have homosexual friends), I really appreciate this thread. Thank you for educating me and opening up my eyes to an issue that I did not know existed. Moving forward, I will try to be positive source of information for others. Humans are humans.

Wasn't this thread about Andy Mientus? Saw the interview and this was a small part.
Why do people feel the need to label everyone (and disagree with the labels)? He is a man who is a theatre actor. He also happens to have had relationships with men and women. He is now marrying a man. Ok. Thrilling. Who cares who he sleeps with?

It was part of the interview, HE put it out there. And no one was really discussing HIM.

Let's see... scared bi kids who have possibly never met an openly bi person nor ever really heard a celebrity (of any magnitude) talk about it? Much less positively?

That's not true. Tom Daley is openly bi and is a very positive influence on many bi kids that I know.

Oh, well, if there are two in the world, then I guess it is a bit much for them to bring it up...
Also, Daley now identifies as gay.

Philly, you've been vindicated. Again. How could we have doubted you?

Fantod, was that in reply to me? I purposely used a lot of qualifiers and didn't say Andy was a pioneer or anything, and I don't think of him as one anyway.
