Another Melanie Brown Rent Promo Picture !

I got a RENT email today that was so tacky it was unbelievable:-

MELANIE BROWN (aka Scary Spice) stars in RENT! Tickets as low as $50*!

Even if you're not necessarily into Broadway musicals, you have to check out RENT, especially now that it's got a living, breathing Spice Girl in it.

It's a true fact: Melanie Brown of the Spice Girls (she's the one that goes, "tell me whatcha want, whatcha really really want") is now on Broadway, starring in RENT.

RENT is about being young and learning to survive in New York City. It's about falling in love, finding your voice, and living for today. It's about giving hope and having faith and it's connecting with audiences in a way that no musical ever has.

RENT has the youngest, sexiest cast on Broadway singing songs that really rock. RENT has always been hot, but now that Melanie Brown has joined the cast, it's actually - SPICY.

Aww how VERY open minded.

I like celebrity casting, and when I saw Rent my mind immediately jumped to Mel B in the role. But, that email is one of the worst marketing campaigns I've ever seen. It's not in any way subtle and it paves the way for making Rent a star vehicle. "a living, breathing Spice Girl" - how about 'a living breathing American Idol contestant?'

That e-mail basically says "RENT is a show that people who don't like Broadway musicals would like, and it's only good now that Melanie B is in it."

Who made up that e-mail? Seriously!!! That's really bad advertising!

I think her picture is quite good, actually. She definately looks Mimi-ish.

i agree with broadwaystar. Jai has enough respect (well IMO) in the broadway/theatre world and enough outside influence to sell more tickets. it would be smart to bring him back.
