I'd to go it. He had a great comic streak with Norm Lewis at Norm's 54 Below show. Had tickets to "Three Summers of Lincoln" in San Diego, but box office announced he "withdrew for personal reasons.'
Was his withdrawal announced? I'm not seeing anything.
There are lots of reasons why someone might withdraw from a show. "Creative differences." Health or family issues. But a competing offer for a Broadway or screen role seems unlikely in this situation: Stokes is someone who gets offered a lot of things, is picky about what he says yes to, and has been involved with developing this piece for a while.

I don't know if it was announced but he's not listed on the cast at the La Jolla website anymore. Agreed that it's more likely to be a creative difference or health/personal reason (hopefully not the latter) than a Broadway role
When I called the box office to refund my tickets (he was the big selling point for me) and asked what had happened, they told me he had a scheduling conflict.
