With good reason. Senseless people like you dramadude take the chance of this offer away from everyone else. GREAT job.

HA! I was just trying to update the masses. Forgive me for being overzealous about lining up to see the first revival of "Bye Bye Birdie". I'm stoked as are the other people in line. The only opportunity being taken away from anyone is your ability to comprehend fans wanting to buy inexpensive tickets and possibly the chance to attend opening night. Sports and concert fans line up days ahead of time.

7:30am update- not as crowded as I thought it would be at this time. Maybe about 75 people on line right now? Give or take.

And I totally fail to see how dramadude choosing to camp out overnight takes anything away from anyone- I hope you enjoy your lunchbox, and that there are opening night tix inside!

Is there a limit on how many people can get the $10 tickets?

I meant, is it that they will sell out the entire first preview at that price, or is it fewer?

Tag-teamed it with Anakela (second shift, I have the day off) and scored seats in the first row of the mezz. Our line # was 56 and by the time I made it to the box office, the best available orchestra seats that the box office was pulling up were in row P on the aisle. Subscriber seats were still blocked out, which surprised me, since they made a big deal out of the offer. Anyhow, it went very smoothly from the time I took over the spot. The breezeway was a lovely location to wait; I feel sorry for the people in line on 42nd Street in that hot sun!

Got there just before 6, and was #20, according to my card. My lunch box, which you see below, had a t-shirt in it.

This was the card you got, telling you your place on line

No opening night tickets, but the man right next to me won. People on line claimed he is a ticket seller, though, because they've seen him "operating" at the Delacorte for Shakespeare in the Park. When the cameras were on him and they asked him questions, he said Bye Bye Birdie was one of his favorite musicals. I took him at face value, because I have no reason to suspect he was anything but genuine. The man to my right seemed quite racist in his remarks about the winner.

They also moved in a lot of the tech equipment this morning, which caused a lot of confusion on where people should line up:

Overall, a very smooth event. I wish I could have seen more of the little ceremony at the doors of the theater, but oh well.

Oh, here's a pic of their Conrad Birdie:
