The winner did seem a little out of place, but...we shall see. He has to pick his tickets up at the box office on opening night and show ID, so scalping them might not work.

I got on line at about 8:45 and was around 95th in line. I got Row N 1-3! The wait was brutal in the sun and the crowd on this line was pretty bad. They were very fan girly and obnoxious. I thought the cast chasing Conrad Birdie (Is this guy famous) was really annoying and the cast was running up and down the line throughout the morning and they seemed a little full of themselves (or maybe just really excited.) I don't know, maybe I was just in a really crabby mood.

I'm on the site...
And what the heck happened to Molly Ephraim as Ursula? Brynn Williams is now listed as Ursula.

Anyone know? RyToast?

That was for the benefit of the cameras. The cast was playing members of Birdie's fan club.

The cast was running up and down the line throughout the morning and they seemed a little full of themselves (or maybe just really excited.) I don't know,
I have to agree. The teenage cast in this show was incredibly irritating, particularly Allie Trimm, who acted like she was a star. Although I found their parents more annoying. There's nothing worse than stage parents. There were also a lot of families on line who "knew" one of the kids in the cast, and felt the need to announce it repeatedly.

I realize that, it was still annoying.

I got there at around 8:30 and snagged 6 seats, (with two friends) in the first row of the mezz, dead center. The line was still PACKED as I left around 1:40. The screaming was awfully obnoxious, but I understand it was for the cameras. It was a very smooth operation - thank god!

I was confused. The person right before me in line got row H in the orchestra--and I stepped up and was told the best seats available were 3rd row in the balcony on the side... Hmm... oh well. Can't really complain with 10 dollar tickets! And yes, the screaming teens around Conrad was quite annoying...

Can't believe I have read comments that things went smoothly. I got on line at 11:30 and didn't get my ticket until around 3. It was ridiculous.

My friend got in line at 9:30AM (with about 150 ppl in-front of him) and didnt get our tickets until 1:30PM. A lot of waiting in the deathly heat, and I certainly owe him a huge favor. But we will be there first preview (sun-stroke or not!) in Orch Row M (right-side)

My friend got there around 8:10 this morning and we got row P in the orchestra. He also got me an original 1960 Playbill signed by Charles Strouse & Lee Adams!!

I am surprised that no one has mentioned that they distributed copies of the original Bye Bye Birdie Playbill from November 14, 1960 (was that opening night?) .. the full Playbill with ads from the 60s, the full cast list (including Beth Howland ... Amy in the original Company ... as one of the teens). Its a great piece of theatre memorabilia (much more interesting than a silly lunchbox).

I was there at 8AM, still in the breezeway, and got to the box office at 12:45 and snagged front orchestra on the side.

They handed out Playbills probably around 11:15ish, maybe a little later. I was in the breezeway close to the 42nd Street side, and everyone in my area got one. Where were you standing? Maybe they ran out and didn't have enough for everyone.

I was #20 on line. Maybe the people who got playbills didn't get a lunch box??

Consolation prize maybe? I was #86 in line, and did not get a lunchbox (and didn't care), but did get a playbill.

Yeah, I was #58 in line. 1-50 got lunchboxes and 51-100 got playbills. And I got Front row mezz in the center, and got there around 7.

No, Lee and Stouse and the kid playing Conrad were sitting in the BO lobby at a table signing playbills and other things .. this was just prior to going to the Box Office area.

Whizzer and I got there at 5am today. We were the 14th and 15th people in line.

Around 11:30am, after we got our lunchboxes, tshirts, buttons, and after they did a bunch of interviews, pictures, videos with Conrad and screaming fans, they finally opened the box office.

In the lobby of the box office were (the brilliant) Charles Strouse and Lee Adams. Since I read that they would be in attendance, I had brought the CD covers of BYE BYE BIRDIE, APPLAUSE, and GOLDEN BOY for them to sign (and they signed all three and were very pleasant about it). Charles also mentioned that MINSKY'S is coming to Broadway this Spring.

Then we got to the box office and got four tickets for $40. Orchestra Row C, Seats 1, 3, 5 and 7.

Can't wait for September 10th!!

PS: So excited about Brynn Williams taking over as Ursula. She will be fantastic.
