I'm just going to go out on a limb and predict that Andy Mientus will be cast as Charley.

Please, goodness, keep him away from this. Mientus, not Arden.

Could actually be an interesting show for the DeafWest treatment.

Wait, is he directing Merrily for Deaf West or is that just a suggestion? No link in the original post.

It does not appear to be Deaf West, per casting notice.

What I find more interesting is that Eamon Foley is listed as the choreographer. Is this the same young boy from 13 and Everyday Rapture?

I'd see Andy as Charley. I think he could do it. It's maybe not Andy's typical musical style but it wasn't Lin-Manuel Miranda's either and I enjoy his performance on the cast album very much.

I heard Marissa Jaret Winokur is involved as Mary in this. Mientus is not playing Charlie.

Is Mientus involved in any way?

I would pay good money to see Marissa Jaret Winokur's Mary.

huh, I never knew until googling him just now that Mientus and Arden are fiancés. He's wrong for the show though, for sure.

I'd KILL to see Lesli Margherita or Leslie Kritzer as Gussie. The role really needs a young(er) Patti LuPone type in the role.

According to the L.A. Times, Arden will be the first "artist in residence" at the Wallis and will direct 2 shows in their upcoming season.

This news alone makes the prospect of next season better than the one now ending.

I am OBSESSED with Merrily. If you go to the casting notice LarryD2 posted you get the producer's name. If you google him you can find his Facsbook page. And on his Facebook page you can find this photo where Arden is tagged and Andy is in it and the caption references Merrily. So it looks like Andy is in it?https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10206081367935093&set=t.1289070181&type=3&theater

Well, I'll be skipping this, then.

That picture is just from a reading or presentation. It doesn't mean anyone has been cast.
And why are people reacting like Arden and Mientus work together all the time? They havre basically done one show together and Mientus was wonderful in SPRING AWAKENING.

Whether it makes it to New York or not, I'm excited to see Arden's career as a director continue to grow.

I think its intriguing how much warmth people seem to have towards Arden & how much vitriol towards Mientus.

I think they're both talented and adorable. I have no vitriol toward either of them.
