YAY ATLANTA !!!!
It looks like I'll be driving to ATL alot this season !!!!
Re: the title of this thread
Atlanta will also have the worst 2006-2007 season ever. Indeed, Atlanta is about to have the only 2006-2007 season it's ever gonna have.
It does look like a pretty impressive list, though.
Why do you think that its also going to have the worst season this season as well?

And....y'all forgot about 'Spelling Bee' at the Alliance!
It was sarcasm...since Atlanta can only have ONE 2006-2007 season..then in fact it would be the best and the worst 2006-2007 season Atlanta will ever have....
You all knew it was coming....
*HEADDESK*
Don't forget the 'Sister Act' premiere as well. Leave it to Atlanta to start having a cool theatre scene AFTER I leave...sigh...
I'm so excited because I live near Atlanta and will be able to see most of these shows. This is also the last season before I leave for college, so atleast it is a good season.
Plus, it's about time we get some good shows. The shows in this season aren't all that great...

Piazza's only going to be at the Fox for several days...I'd better buy tickets as soon as they go on sale.

That list kind of looks the same as the London season.

JACXR, I feel the same way. Where were those great seasons when I was growing up there!
i totally agree that the season in atlanta looks FAB-U-LOUS, but one question (being selfish): how come Dallas can't get great shows like that? we are as big as atlanta yet we have a "Summer Musicals" season that is from May-Sept.
this years lineup is okay:
Phantom, Little Women, Bombay Dreams , Les Mis, Mamma Mia (again), Brooklyn
, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
but where's the Spamalot, Light in the Piazza, Sweet Charity, All Shook Up?
granted we have some kick-butt local theatre companies, but well maybe i'm just being greedy. i dunno.
Be glad you guys get anything. The Wichita series was cancelled this year :/
But Kitz, I thought YOU were the Wichita theatre scene...
are these all tours?
I didn't know ALL SHOOK UP had a tour
why tour a flop?
Because people like it? I think it'll do well on tour.
Well Elvis Presley and his music are popular all over the country. A lot of the subscribers and patrons are not up on reviews or what NYC critics say. Someone will look at the schedule of shows and see "wow, there is a show with Elvis music...let's go see it!" The music has mass appeal so the hope would be that it will do better with road audiences than in NYC.
so it is a tour luv?
Equity or Non?

Atlanta is also getting Brooklyn in July. Diana DeGarmo is the hometown girl so their theatre company is going to support her. I just wish her first national tour was with a less divisive, more widely known show.

to make its investment back. People are going to see it because its Elvis songs, most won't know it flopped on Broadway. Little Women and BKYLN are touring and they were both deemed flops, although I think they'll sell pretty well on tour.
I'm going to actual try to subscibe to there series if B'ham's isn't that great this year...but I know they are trying.
Yeah...I noticed that Atlanta has come up in the theatre scene and thats GREAT.

This is so unfair...the Kennedy Center (in DC) 2006-2007's season is really bad- we just have the Piazza tour, the Phantom tour and a reunion conert of the Sweeney Todd cast from the 2002 Sondheim celebration.
JAC, you flatter me darling. You really do

Wow, I wish TO had a season half as good as that. I wouldn't be complaining if we even had Piazza, and Sweeney Todd would be awesome as well.
For the 2005-2006 season we were supposed to get THE PRODUCERS, THE FULL MONTY, DEFENDING THE CAVEMAN, and THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, but due to the movie version of The Producers, they couldn't get the rights. So what did they do? Cancelled the entire season in June. Nice, eh?
I guess it has a semi-happy ending. Music Theatre of Wichita got the rights to do The Full Monty and Millie as part of their summer stock series. I'm betting the try to bring in Darcie Roberts.
