She was more known in the 80s (she and her sister Judy), but I don't think you can really ask "why" about anything to do with that movie, because it's just a giant clusterfrack all around.

They wanted Wayland Flowers to play Zack and Madame to play Cassie, so they gave Audrey Val.
Isn't Madame lined up to play Morrible In the 9NT of WICKED?

Movie finale costume test.
Wasn't it Audrey's sister Judy who was on "Madame's Place"? Audrey was on "Dallas".
she didn't have big boobs?? She was still suppose to be a DANCER, afer all.

The song is TITS AND ASS
some kind of bumps should have been there kiddo
What's with the big boobs business? I don't recall Pamela Blair having big breasts either. Did you guys expect Dolly Parton-esque cleavage?
The song is TITS AND ASS
Um, the correct title of the song is "Dance 10; Looks 3".

There's actually a line in the show (of course cut for the movie) where Sheila says, "They aren't very big."

Yes but if you know history it was originally
called TITS and ASS but changed during previews
to Dance 10 Looks 3 because it would surpise people
and it got the laughs it deserved

That's correct! They should have kept it in the film and it would've justified the "visual".

I honestly am ashamed if I messed up the Landerseses.
^ LMAO!! I've been guilty of that myself! Judy has the bigger boobs.

And, I remember correctly, Val's reply to Sheila's quip is something along the lines of "I didn't want them BIG, I wanted them in proportion."

Actually, I don't hate the movie. If you look at it, much of the physical show is still in tact, they just messed it up with the Zach/Cassie stuff.
I have an early draft of the screenplay, and trust me...what we got was a masterpiece compared to the draft I have.

OHZACKI
I am a dan-suh...
The pathetic part is that Audrey's performance as Val is one of the highlights of the film. And I use the term "highlights" loosely.
Such a low curve she set.
Attenborough supposedly didn't know who she was and cast her solely on her interview and screen test.
Here's a funny review from someone who didn't see the original show

AEA - I might be paraphrasing a bit, but I think her response is something along the lines of, "I heard that, you bitch. I didn't want them like yours. I wanted them in proportion." To which Sheila replies, "You got what you paid for."
I don't think there was anything good about the movie. Goodness, Allyson Reed's hair-don't in the movie was hideous. The actress who played Maggie (name escapes me) was in my tap class in NYC. I always wanted to ask her about the movie, but decided not to.
