As much as I felt I needed to speak out, certain factors held me back. Family sucks, that's all I'll delve into there.

So anyway...BARE, I just listened to the interview LOL That was hilarious, Damon is so talkative, Michael was very shy and held back, but when he did speak it was witty or frankly hot (****sucking)

I completely understand, aspiringguy. I had a huge spat with my sister (!!!) about gay marriage a few weeks ago. Not pretty. She knows I'm gay, yet she doesn't support it. It makes me feel like the relationships I have are somehow inferior to hers. Families are awful, because someone always has to budge, and it's usually the one who shouldn't have to.

I just might decide not to go to her wedding, when the time comes. Maybe I'll send her a note saying, "I'm not coming, because your marriage doesn't seem right to me."

yeah, I recently got into a fight with one my friends because she claims that a girl at our work is "not gay anymore" and I said what? that doesnt even make sense. Its not a choice and she wouldnt believe me.

really is it still the 40s cause Im pretty sure we are past all this people. acceptance its the new frontier.

... but I also got to listen to my Republican extended-family members bash gay marriage as I sat in strained silence. Ugh.

This sounds so familiar. Of course, it's not my extended family that feels this way, but my immediate family. My sister who is only 3 years older than me has accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior...Baptists are the worst!!

Anyway, I am a law student and am planning on writing a paper on Gay Marriage this year. I wanted to talk to my sister about it, to try to understand the Chrisitian Right perspective, but it's a bunch of rhetoric. She and others don't get that it's not about religion or tradition, it's about basic civil and human rights. Legitimate familes in the US do not have the protection they deserve.

Sorry for the rant, but this is something I am interested in and passionate about.

It's quite alright, I end up ranting about a billion different things. This subject in particular holds a certain place within a lot of us and I for one think the issue deserves all the attention it gets.

I am FAMOUS for ripping into family members who trash talk people at gatherings.. happy OR sad...... my father said to me, at my cousin's wedding... mind you.. he is marryinga girl who is half black.. that our family is 'going down hill' because people in our family are 'marringa nd having babies with wetbacks and n*s'. Mind you, he KNOWS that i am gay... of ALl people to say that in front of!

This subject in particular holds a certain place within a lot of us and I for one think the issue deserves all the attention it gets.

That's why I love the beginning of the second act of BARE, with the dream wedding. There is some dissention within the gay community about gay marriage, but really it's an issue that affects all gays and lesbians, not just those wanting families or "vanilla" couples. I love the fact that, in BARE, we see a young gay couple wanting to get married - really drives home the idea that this is for the future, that young people are affected by this, and that gay marriage is as much for the couples of Now as it is for the couples of the future.

That's what happened to MY sister! At least yours follows a recognized religion. My sister got converted to a "new" church while she was vacationing on a beach in Australia. Some new-age form of Christianity. Very weird.

so whats the latest on the cast recording. I remember reading somewhere, most likely on here, that they were going in the studio some time soon. Do we have a definite date yet? please say yes!

Nothing definite, but there's a longrunning rumour that the recording will be produced by the one-and-only Stephen Trask! I can't wait!

Yes, this thread does get busy! And there isn't even any news right now! (Other than the fact that the director/writer of the movie "Saved" is a self-described Bare fan! He's on the Barees forum, which is pretty dead these days.)

LOL Still so surprised we're not on the OT board yet...

So BARE, umm amazing musical, I recall when I "saw" it that John Hill was horribley out of tune during "You and I" nothing like the sampler. Maybe a one time thing?
