My my, the thread has grown 2 pages without me! I feel so left out.

About the R&J auditioning (ie. how Claire knew): I believe this was discussed on the Barees site, and the consensus was that Peter was probably auditioning for the role of Mercutio anyway, and Jason (being the all-round popular guy) was most likely going for Romeo. Also, the musical isn't real-time full-time, so maybe there's an "offstage" scene somewhere that we don't get to see!

About parents: mine are clueless too! Maybe it's a trend amongst the mothers of gay boys, . They'll believe anything you tell them. When I was 18, I told my mom I was going away on a special field trip (in July!!); instead, I flew to New York City and spent a week in Manhattan all by myself, living in a hostel and exploring the streets at night. When I got back home, they thought I had gone camping.

Bobby_strong: you're from Canada? So am I! I'm from Toronto. Where are you?

About people not liking the BARE sampler: just because someone doesn't like it doesn't necessarily mean (s)he'll won't like the show. I don't think the sampler is really an accurate representation of the show (mostly because the songs aren't in chronological order, but other things too.) So you might want to consider taking your non-sampler-liking friend anyway.

But then again, BARE has from the beginning drawn polar reactions from people. Whatever floats your boat, I guess. (I myself love tragic gay romances.)

So long! I'm disappearing to Montreal for a few days. (By the time I get back, I'm sure the thread will have grown 10 pages. ) I'll miss you all, BARE family! Behave!

Hopefully this hasn't been discussed but I recently recieved a copy of the "cast rehersals" from LA I assume, I know Jenna is on it but I was wondering about the rest of the cast, is there anyone else from the current NY cast?

Luckily I haven't had a problem with friends not liking the CD sampler, in fact quite the contrary- six (count em, 6) of my friends are now HOOKED! And now we've planned a trip up to see it! Hooray for samplers!

I've played BARE for three friends.

The first: "OMG! Its so beautiful! I really wanna hear the whole score and see it! The guys in the 'Are you there' song have amazing voices"

The second: "Its really good but I feel like its trying to be RENT"

The third: "What? Oh sorry? I wasnt really paying attention. Did he say he had a baseball bat in his pants?"

Lol, I would seriously injure friend number 3. And I just don't see any resemblance between BARE and RENT, luckily my friends that did just thought that was a good thing! Seriously, I got so many comments like "THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR GIVING ME THIS, I CAN'T STOP LISTENING!" which just makes everything worthwhile! And now another friend is hooked so that makes 7!

The LA cast list can be found at http://www.barethemusical.com I BELIEVE. Yes, Jenna is the only hold over.

The only resemblance I found was the fact that it is a sung through, pop show. ATA, however, would be a great theatre for Rent. But teh resemblance stopped there.

Yes... the sampler and the show are very different.... irt gives you an IDEA, but the show itself is MUCH better

Luckily all the friends Ive shown it too have loved it. And even some non-theatre friendly people have loved it too. Although one of my friends said that Im becoming ridiculous with my obsession! I say yeah but who can blame me this show is incredible.

Sorry Bluewizard for the confusion. I am from michigan but I live like 20 minutes from windsor, and I just turned 19 so I am a legal drinker when I travel to windsor now.
