The Talented Mr. Arden!!!!!
Im glad you sound like you had enough fun for the rest of us. Its good to feel like a groupie sometimes. Did you get to meet him is that why you felt like a groupie?
I was just about to give up hope on any reviews for the night the screen gets blurry after an hour or so...Do you have any more specifics...do you remember any of his jokes...how long was the show...how adorable did he look?

Hey!! I'm back and had a wonderful time tonight! Michael continues to amaze me with his voice and music. For real.
It was a really great venue actually. Small and intimate but nice acoustics. Michael sang many songs from "Easter Rising", songs he's written for an adaptation of "The Talented Mr. Ripley", songs from a new show he's going to be in ( I can't remember the name right now) and one of my ALL TIME favorite Ben Folds songs called "All You Can Eat". Look up the lyrics people and try and envision Michael singing them.
Special guests included Jenna Leigh Green (who sang the Waiting Song), Luther Creek (who sang a song from Easter Rising) and Adam Fleming who sang The N & R Song and another Easter Rising number. Natalie, Scott and Kaitlin were there too.
I met the wonderful Craig (I'm sorry I didn't say hi first!) who I think took pictures during the show. Here are a couple of crappy ones. Ugh. I'll give somebody a million dollars if they teach me how to use my own camera. :P
This is Michael and the cello player. I can't remember his name right now but holy Jebus he was hot!
Michael told some great stories including how The N & R Song was based on a real life experience.
There's more to say but I'm exhausted right now. Needless to say Michael gave an amazing show. Trisky will have more details. She's better at that than I am.

He was adorable! As for jokes, he told the story about how he came to think of writing "N and R". He was more funny with his mannerisms, he didn't tell flat out jokes. He looked adorable. He cut off his hair, and has kinda the fo-hawk thing going right now. It is cute....and mostly brown.
Umm....the show was 2 hours. I think my friend who I went with wrote down the set list....hopefully he'll post them tomorrow or something....
I didn't meet him, but I saw him after the show...

Ben Folds Five - All U Can Eat Lyrics
Son, look at all the people in this restaurant
What do you think they weigh?
Out the window to the parking lot
At their SUV's, taking all of the space
They give no f**k
They talk as loud as they want
They give no f**k
Just as long as there's enough, for them
Gonna get on the microphone down at WalMart
Talk about some **** that's been on my mind
Talk about the state of this great nation of our's
People look to your left, yeah, look to your right
They give no f**k
They buy as much as they want
They give no f**k
Just as long as there's enough, for them
Son, look at the people lining up for plastic
Wouldn't you like to see them in the National Geographic
Squatting bare ass in the dirt eating rice from a bowl
With a towel on their head and maybe a bone in their nose
See that asshole with a peace sign on his liscence plate?
Giving me the finger and running me out of his lane
God made us number one 'cause he loves us the best
Well he should go bless someone else for a while and give us a
rest
(They give no)
Yeah, and everyone can see
(They give no)
We've eaten all that we can eat
Just thought i'd share

LOL! Thanks Mesmerized for posting the lyrics. I was way too lazy to look them up. Why is it adorable when Michael sings the F word? Why?

musicalfandukie, you're not alone. A friend that came with me tonight hasn't seen Bare, hasn't heard any of the music but is already in love with Michael so he'll be there opening night. The love of Bare is fast, yo.

I'm back y'all. Montreal...LE GRANDE BLEH! Some of those clubs made me want to eradicate the gay population. But I did get to see my first Tim Horton's and saw a beautiful city.
But I have to say Michael's concert totally slipped my mind. As an Ardenite, I must say I'm ashamed
But I live vicariously through Gina at this point!
Anywho, my tired bootay is going to bed. So much 'bare' news, so much exhaustion.

There are some people in the world who say that writing stories, or composing music or dancing sparkly dances is easy for them. Nothing interferes with their ability to create. While I celebrate their creative freedom, a little part of me just wants to punch those motherf*ckers in the teeth...[tos]

Holy crap, I think this might be the hottest Michael hair yet. HOTNESS! And where's broadwayguy2? Adam's looking pretty fine in those pics as well!
Jeez, I really need to get a life outside of my Bare obsession. But the question is, do I really want to?

Okay, so, I've been trying to avoid posting on this thread simply because I really don't have the time to keep up with it. And, well, because I still have dial-up when I'm not at school, so each page takes an hour to load, so 49 pages was daunting. But now I have officially given in and decided to post. I absolutely love BARE. I just have the sampler and I live in Montana, so I haven't actually been able to be around the BARE madness. You guys are my only link(and a very entertaining one.) I'll be in NYC in October, but I promised a friend that I would wait to see it until November when she comes to visit me (I'm at school in Vermont) and it's killing me!!!! I can't believe I'll be there and I won't be able to see it (but a promise is a promise.) Anyway, thanks for the great posts that I've read so far and for all the good "insider" information.
Why do we play with fire?
Why do we run our fingers through the flame?
Why do we leave our hands on the stove, although we know we're in for some pain?

Michael... oh Michael... *sigh*
*sigh*
I will post the full set list tomorrow, though I think what he sang has been well covered by both MadeofGold and NYSinger. The only other songs they left out were a song by a young composer whose name I can't remember, but whose show called The Woman Upstairs, Michael has apparently been cast in, and a cut song from A New Brain as the encore.
He was brilliant, no scratch that, he is brilliant. Given that I have no talent to speak of, it makes his seem to shine that much brighter. I don't know what I adore more about him, his voice, his compositions or his snarky sense of humor. I think I could have listened to him for days on end. The story of the origin of N&R was quite awww-worthy, but I believe the best part of the story was the swallowing of the mic that he did with his mouth in relating the apparent hotness of the boy Brad that it was about. No seriously, he stuck it in his mouth.
*waits while the boys pick themselves up from the floor*
Okay where were we? Yes, the brilliance of Michael, for his talent and also for picking out some really hot band members, the piano player and the cello player spring to mind immediately. Though he had several guest stars who were all wonderful, btw, the night belonged to him. He owned that room and had all of us eating out of the palm of his hand in about 30 seconds flat. I hope this was the first of several shows to come.
I'm exhausted at the moment, but I'll try and post more coherently tomorrow and fill in some gaps. Any questions, just fire away!
It was an outstanding evening, thank you Michael and thanks for being so nice afterwards. Also nice to meet Craig (and yes you did say hi to MadeofGold first, I'm your witness) and can't wait to see your pictures.

sooo what was the story, does anyone remember?

The story is the he was walking along 42nd St. a few months ago and saw a guy on the street, the guy came up out of the subway and told him he's never come up out of the subway for anyone before. The guy told him his name was Brad, he told him his name, and asked him what he did, the guy worked in some building on the street and Michael told him he was in Big River and they parted ways without saying anything else. He wrote the song for a benefit, thinking about fate and such and about a week ago was having dinner with a friend who asked him if he'd ever met a guy named Brad on the street, because the friend knew some guy named Brad who'd met some guy from Big River on the street. *cue twilight zone music*
