At least I have the pride of saying our predictions thus far have been correct. Now, how will they manage the stagedoor (which will be crazier than Hansen, no doubt)"
Who else sees any show other than newcomers, repeats, and industry?

You think the fan base reads the New York Times??"
I barely think the fanbase reads Twitter's news online, nevermind the NYT.
But the NYT review will be brutal to say the least, unless the set is truly amazing.
The fanbase may not regularly read the Times but somewhere like Playbill is going to post Brantley or Green absolutely hating it and they're going to flip.

With Play Goes Wrong closing 1/6 and BMC previews starting 2/13 that doesn't leave a lot of time for changes/tech. I predict a BMC very similar to what's currently playing off-Broadway.
Hopefully the choreography is changed. I think they should even get a new choreographer. The choreography is downright embarrassing.
I really do worry they're not going to price it (or discount it) properly enough to encourage the repeat business from the younger crowds that'll keep it going.

I rushed to Telecharge to get a ticket for first preview and kept getting interrupted and just assumed I wouldn't be able to score a ticket for that date after all. About two hours later, I finally got back to completing my transaction and, to my surprise, the same seat popped up as available (dead center Orchestra). So...is this not going to sell out? Or were fans just caught off guard by the surprise announcement? After my recent frantic dashes to purchase Harry Potter and Bruce tickets I thought this would be more of a feeding frenzy.

Same here. I'd be more worried about crowd control with the rush and sro though. Imagine the lines! And all the lower level tickets will be gone by tomorrow morning. I'm hoping prices are lowered for this, because even as a student I'm out priced!
And to those asking about changes, I doubt they're changing it if they chose one of the top 3 smallest Broadway houses, and same with the choreo. Iconis is too attached to his circle to change any of the cast or behind the scenes.

...you thought this would be a feeding frenzy like a multi-billion dollar, two-decade worldwide franchise and a show featuring one of the greatest and most beloved popular songwriters of all time?

Thanks for the snark. But, no. Not at that level. Obviously. But didn't expect the same good loc ticket on first preview (when I imagine all the hardcore fans would want to go) would linger for hours.

Don't feed the trolls.
I mean good for them. Will it be a hit? No. But hey something new.

Do all of us a favor, and please get off BroadwayWorld. Or the Internet. Or Tumblr. Or Instagram. Or anything else, considering your culture has poisoned musical theater!
Good luck to them , just not sure this is going to work the way they hope

NYT already reviewed it, and, to me, it didn't read like a total pan.

Even Dear Evan Hansen's first preview was not sold out despite being a hit on second stage a few months prior. I guess only time will tell if this will be a hit or not on Broadway but based on its off-bway showing it looks like it will be when compared with other musicals that had off-bway success before going on to Bway (i.e. band's visit, dear evan hansen, hamilton, etc.)

This fanbase didn't even get a chance to ask their parents to buy tickets after school yet.
I think the biggest problem this show is going to have, is that the fanbase is across the US. Tons of these fans have no way to get to new york. Almost half the comments on the post where they announced says something like “Wish i could go! But i live too far away”
Once the fans finally see it, I dont think they can see it twice cause their parents are not gonna let them make mutiple trips to NY.

Hmm, wasn't this board just discussing if live recorded shows will ever become profitable?
The show will be a hit, but would be an even bigger hit as a digital download. Just a thought.

I don't see any reason to believe this stage door will be crazier than DEH's was with Ben Platt, even.
Congrats to the cast and crew, though! Hoping for a Tony nom for Jason Tam, saw the show last night Off Bway, he was the highlight for me!

How many parents would willingly go to this WITHOUT their kids?
Updated On: 9/5/18 at 02:38 PMI bought my tickets for the 3rd preview. I’m excited this show is my guilty pleasure!
