At least currently one confirmed dead and 10 injured. Horrible news.

NYPD is reporting it was an accident, possibly drunk driving.

My friend was in the area, buying a ticket, and witnessed this. I just bought the seat next to him so he doesn't have to go back to the area alone tonight. I hope the injured recover quickly. Very scary stuff.

WABC - TV reports  a driver in his 20s  with prior DWIs & other motor vehicle violations  from the Bronx was arrested after allegedly trying to flee the car after the crash.

Yeah just read the early reports, not a terror attack. Likely driving while intoxicated.

Not sure I'm believing the just drunk part yet, if this is the guy he clearly got out of the car and tried to run away. Look at the direction they are walking from.

Obviously we don't have all the facts yet but if he was drunk enough to get his car on the sidewalk and mow that many people down and smash his car like that at the end I have a bit of a hard time believing he ran down the block, maybe he bailed on the car beforehand. There is definitely video out there of all this since times Square especially is filled with cameras. Only a matter of time before they end up online

 Apparently the driver was Richard Rojas, 26 of the Bronx.

Just saw this.  I usually walk through that corner to go to the gym at noon but fortunately was on a conference call today.  I hope the people injured recover quickly. Awful!  I always think of something like this happening as I'm waiting onthe corner for the lights to change or standing on the island between the bike lane and the traffic.  The cars speed by so quickly.

I was a street down when it happened!  My mom and I ran to see what was going on when we heard all of the sirens.  It was very crazy!  Prayers to all of the victims and their families!!

They said their friend witnessed the accident, so I think it's about being with them to deal with that, including having to go back to scene of the accident, than the area itself.

Yes, I think witnessing a large number of people being hit by a car and 1 killed would shake one up. I know I would be quite shaken.
