ok, now I wish I could have seen the show once more before it transfers. Maybe I just went in expecting WAY too much from it and got nothing out of it...still can't sing any of the tunes though.
Any word on the cast recording's release?
All I have heard is "soon".

The Official Campaign to Bring BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON to Broadway
Well, no thank you to the 'campaign' -- as they make no difference (exception to the rule: Betty White)
But here's a link to samples of the music thanks to that site:

I adored this show! It was smart, sophomoric, entertaining, funny, vulgar and irreverent. I can't get "Populism, Yea, Yea" out of my head.
Is it historically accurate, no. It's a play. I think it is understood many things, like AJ's parents being killed by Indians, are made up and played for laughs. It spoke to me and the kind of humor I like very much. I hope it transfers because seeing it 3X was not enough. And Ben Walker is sexy as hell!
Cd release probably same day as Scotsboro Boys!!!! LOL!
LOOOOOVE this show, thought Benjamin Walker was incredibly sexy, the ensemble was strong, just adore it. Kind of feel like Broadway would eat it alive, but I'd love to see it again.
Does Ben believe in the show enough to bring it to Broadway?
considering he has (most likely) signed a CONTRACT for a movie, his BELIEF has little to do with it.
While I loved him...I do not think he is irreplaceable.
The question is: will IT wait for him?

^Am I the only one who heard about the producers ushering a bunch of different stars to try and latch onto this production, like Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, and (allegedly) Zac Efron?
the show is that bad it needs a bigger name than the show itself?
You have to be kidding? Your kidding right?
Me? Kidding? Yes, I'm a little bit of a smart aleck to be honest. We've all read the rumors about the X-Men movie right? Seems funny to me that everyone quickly goes after a star to replace Ben.

^I'm sorry, just because I don't like Jersey Boys, I don't purposefully shove it into people's faces... your attitude towards this show is growing not only obnoxious but troll-like.
And I for one think Neil Patrick Harris would be a great addition to the show...
AND, to say BBAJ will be an instantaneous hit is like saying Beauty & the Beast neededto work for it's audience. BBAj, like rent, or Spring Awakening, is not a recognizable title, and I think getting a star whose talents can be utilized well within the show is a smart move on the part of the producers.
I think the Xmen movie has been substantiated -- so no rumour there. And ONE person says they heard they were looking at some big(ger) names and that means it's true?
BOTH Groff and Harris have proven they can/should do B'way (and I don't think Groff is much of a name beyond the Bway crowd -- even with his Glee appearances.) Efron? Bwahahahaha.
Efron was the clutcher for me too...just had to laugh.
"Does Ben believe in the show enough to bring it to Broadway?"
He's been with the show for years, back during its LA production.
And considering the state of Broadway now- yes. I would say many productions would need a star bigger than the title of the show. Particularly a show as quirky as this.

My friends and I chatted with Ben Walker a bit after the 9:30pm show on Saturday. Even though there hasn't been an "official" announcement, he confirmed about the X-Men movie. But, he also talked about how he was still hoping for a transfer. In all likely hood, It sounds like he wants to stay with the show. I'm guessing if the transfer happens, it won't be until after filming is done. Filming is supposed to begin in August and the movie premiers June 2011. If it transfers, it probably won't be until at least January. "Yank!" announced the transfer months ago already and it's not going to open until the new year, if I remember correctly.
I'm just hoping it DOES transfer.

^Just thinking about it, waiting until late winter/ early spring of 2011 could be a pretty smart move as well (Avoid the title of show/ Ragtime curse). Not only does it build up buzz (If the cast recording is released before then, certainly that could get more people interested), but if the critics hail the show as they did Off-Broadway, well, needless to say, it's a near win-win situation.
Or, they could always pull a Mary Poppins: have a new actor play Jackson and then put Benjamin Walker into the role...

Saw the show on final weekend....disappointed that there was no songlist in the playbill. Found it finally on the web site for the upcoming recording. But one of Andrew's songs (just a snippet of it) sounded very familiar. He sings it when he's about to campaign for president & it includes the lyric 'This is my song...' Was this an interpolation of a rock hit from years ago? Anyone??
Word on ATC is that Cheyenne Jackson has become the top candidate to replace Walker if the show moves ahead as scheduled in the fall.
I like Cheyenne, but I just can't picture him in the role.
Um....no. That would be a poor choice. (IMHO)
