Interesting. I kind of like that they're not going for a Bill Murray "type" for the role. I think Karl is really gonna put his own spin on it, which will be nice to see.

He is adorable. I am not always that thrilled to see another movie made into a Broadway musical but this idea along with the casting choice has me intrigued.

Anyone have backstory on the development of this musical? I know Sondheim said he thought it would make a great musical. So then did someone pick up the title?
I don't think this ever being a "hit" in the sense of like Wicked, etc. But it might be good enough. And I like his direction/design.

While not a huge fan of movie to musical, I DO think that this idea could be fabulous and lots of fun. I ADORE the casting of Karl. Can't wait to hear more!

He was terrific in both On The Twentieth Century and the concert of Annie Get Your Gun. I am thrilled he's heading back to the stage in this new show!

Karl is great, and I'm excited for him..but the real draw for me is Tim Minchin.
And please keep Orfeh as far away from this as humanly possible.
Although, even if she was cast I would still be crazy excited because MINCHIN!!!!

I remember many years ago when Sondheim was toying with the idea of adapting "Groundhog Day" into a musical.
Of course he also toyed with "Sunset Boulevard" for a bit as well.
