So two seasons ago it was Wicked.
Last season it was Spamalot.
What's the big hit that will be selling 101% for years this year?

Ummm...THE ODD COUPLE??

P.S. Is there a need to capitalize every one of your thread subjects?

In terms of 2006, I think Lestat is going to be a pretty hot ticket....If not for the material alone, then definitely the combination of names...ELTON JOHN, Bernie Taupin, ANNE RICE...Etc, lol. Anyhoo, I also agree with the Odd couple as well. This is shaping up to be a pretty great season I think, and hope...We'll see!

Later!

Also...depending on out-of-town reviews for THE WEDDING SINGER, it may be another HAIRSPRAY.

ohhhh! LESTAT!
phans of the actors will def. be seeing it, fans of Elton John, Anne Rice. the books are just so popular and all. and it wont be like those other Vampire flip outs!

and perhaps Woman in White with all the new 3d sets and new technology!

Back, he spurred like a madman, shrieking a curse to the sky. With the white road smoking behind him and his rapier brandished high! Blood-red were the spurs i' the golden noon; wine-red was his velvet coat, when they shot him down on the highway, down like a dog on the highway, and he lay in his blood on the highway, with the bunch of lace at his throat... Tarzan doesn't begin performances for five months and has a bigger advance sale than Color Purple, Woman in White and Lestat.

I think people may find Woman In White's scenic aspects to be pretty cool and up to date, but I think the show can definitely rely on its material and perfomers as well. Great music (Very story oriented), good book (Something a lot of shows lack), and a stellar cast...And yes Andrew lloyd Webber's name is on it, lol, but I don't think his name alone will forever remain the shows pull, it's great stuff.

...I could also probably agree with the Wedding Singer. I don't know how the musical will turn out but it is a popular title, and if done well, could actually work onstage...It'll be interesting to say the least, LOL.

See Ya!

Which I really don't understand.

Why anyone would want to see ANOTHER Disney musical which, by nature is less inspiring and meaningful than the rest, is beyond me!

The score to the wedding singer is not great. Way too campy, and some of the melodies are wannabe Carrie songs.

Lol, well hearing or even seeing the Wedding Singer onstage will be interesting regardless. I think the show is meant for the campy-style though, so you never know! I'll keep an open mind, at most it is a fun evening.

Later!

FOAnatic,
Capitalized thread titles catch people's attention.

What's with this Lestat business? Since when are vampire musicals successful?

i have a feeling Lestat is going to have lots of smoke, faux gothic sets, organ/synthesizer music and garish songs.

just my opinion.

Usually? They're not... just look at previous musicals with vampires, and they've usually been unsuccessful.

But maybe Lestat could break the curse.

Well besides the obvious (The Odd Couple)

I have a feeling that the biggest smashes this year will be:
-The Color Purple
&
-The Wedding Singer
