I always wondered about this. How do you get backstage passes to Wicked the Musical or any other Broadway show?

There's no such thing as a backstage pass. If you know someone who works at the theater, he or she can sign you in and give you a tour.
Wicked has a Behind the Emerald Curtain tour, but I heard it is not really worth it. Sorry, unless you are really lucky or have connections, you won't be going backstage.

It's not like a rock concert. Haha.
It's all about connections, you really have to know someone at the theater who is in the cast, stage crew, management, etc. I'm not sure if it would work at Wicked but there have been some people who I've heard have simply asked the person working the stage door if there would be anyway to get a backstage tour and it worked out.

"i tried on costumes and rondi!"
ewww....you tried on rondi....I guess you did DO everything.
Well cool! But yeah, I just want to like get that tour backstage and stuff because my cousin did it and she got to walk on stage and everything!! I was so jealous!

LOL!!!
Ok, seriously, how much are the backstage passes for Wicked and Phantom? Phantom has that too.

^I doubt it too. that's a HUGE no-no under any circumstances.
they are not just sold like regular tickets. Often during Bc/EFA collection seasons, many shows will offer them for a pretty high going price...like 500 bucks. THey are also offered on some fundraisers.
I didn't know anyone or pay to get backstage at Hair. We were invited by the stage door manager...just for being nice (and we didn't even know WHO he was at the time.)
You have to fold up a dollar and slip it to the stage doorman nonchalantly.
This isn't for all the shows but I have heard that if you call the theatre and ask to speak to the stage manager you can offer a donation to BC/EFA but it has to be $200 at least.
The theaters don't list their phone numbers though.

Honestly, your best resource is probably the company manager and/or general managers. They can arrange backstage tours, though as others have mentioned, they often ask for hefty donations to BC/EFA.

My friend saw "HAIR" with a friend of his who knows Gavin and got to walk around onstage and take pictures on the set and backstage after the show. Looks like he had a blast.
Well, I guess they do let you put those on after all!!!
How much did the backstage cost?

Well, you CAN buy one when many shows offer them during BC/EFA fundraising. They are often 250 bucks to 500.
Again it's all about knowing someone. I just went backstage at Next to Normal.

He let us play around on stage. I'm not even sure if that should be legal because god forbid someone gets hurt or falls. He showed us all the props and how to move the panels back and forth. The icing though was when we were just sitting around his office backstage and he called Aaron to come hang out with us, so we talked to him for a few minutes and then Aaron kissed us all goodbye (!!!).
Fun facts: You can't even press down on Natalie's piano. Props to Jenn for making it look so believable during the show.
And Dr. Madden's folder about Diana contains so much info about her and all her symptoms. I didn't know Diana had a brother who died, a mother who committed suicide and a father with substance abuse. :SPOILERS: You know how she goes to live with her parents / Natalie's grandparents at the end, so I guess they mean stepmother. Hmmmm.
