Of course this comes out on a day I'm too busy to get online!

I was hoping for a good cast, but I never would have thought to aim this high. Ragtime was great and all, but hardly the caliber of Bernadette Peters. I can't wait.

And my vow of poverty starts now so I can afford to be there as often as I know I'll want to be.

UPDATE: Although we have confirmed that he indeed was cast as Ben, we have heard from John Dossett's agent that he, at this moment, is "NOT doing Follies", though they were in negotiations as recently as yesterday.

Hopefully, that actually comes out of their pairing, and I don't just look dumb. AND, if Bette Midler is Carlotta...Oh boy. The improvs that could happen during "I'm Still Here" are infinite.

So exciting!!! I love Danny Burstein, I'm so glad he is in this. And I agree that the casting of Kim Cattrall is inspired. I hope I get to see this.

In answer to the question if any Kennedy Center show was transferred to Broadway, the superb 1983 production of "On Your Toes" with absolutely ancient George Abbott, elderly George Balanchine and frail but wonderful Hans Spialek all returning to create their original direction, choreography and orchestrations,respectively.

I LOVED that production which had a health run on Broadway and an even longer run in the West End (which was amazing because the show lasted exactly 80 performances in 1937 in London.

In light of the idea of Bette Midler, I will also accept Donna McKechnie as Hattie.

If they want someone for Stella, I still want it to be her, so that she can lead the Mirror dance. It's probably the only Michael Bennett dance left for her to do.

For those interested in seeing this, you should be aware that since it's only a 4 week run, individual tickets may be hard to come be. Tickets are available now only for subscribers and group sales, and could be gone by the time individual tickets go on sale the end of January (that has happened previously at the Kennedy Center). You might want to consider getting a group together. I already have my tickets for May 8!

I've never seen a Kennedy Center production sell out before non-subscriber tickets went onsale. Not to say this can't be the first, but even the one night only aborted Sweeney Todd concert didn't sell out with only subscribers.

I was told by someone who should know that some shows, including Wicked, have had very limited availability by the time subscriber tickets and group sales were completed. But, of course, there's no way to predict what will happen here. Bernadette will be a huge draw, but Follies doesn't necessarily have universal appeal. I just wanted to make sure folks were aware of the group sales alternative.

I know its 10 months away but why don't we get a BWW group together and go down and see the show followed by drinks at the Watergate? (This is sort of what members of the Cast Album group did for the Sondheim Celebration in 2002.)

I don't think she'l have a problem with it and besides there is always ways around those sort of things. They'll make it work for her if that's the case.

I have no desire to hear probably the most gorgeous song in the score lowered or sung an octave down. IF that is what you are suggesting.
But it's not all about me. And her versions of "In Buddy's Eyes" and "Losing My Mind" are said to be revelatory. Updated On: 8/27/10 at 02:22 PM

I honestly don't think she'd have a problem singing the song as originally written. What has you worried that she might not?

Those are probably Sally's highest notes in the score, the ending is up there. I know she has a gorgeous head voice, I just hope she has those notes.
Then again, if Judith Ivey managed to get the notes out, anything is possible.

Yeah, I definitely get where you're coming from. I think she'll do just fine with it as originally written. Hopefully that will be the case.

I'm fascinated with Kim Cattrall's casting in this.

Peters is the only official cast member as of now.
