Bernadette Peters is hosting a stream of her 2009 concert as a fundraiser for Broadway Cares.

For the act one closer she thanked Stephen Sondheim, Jule Styne and Arthur Laurents for writing Gypsy and sang "Some People." The camera doesn't show us who screamed "You ain't getting 88 cents outta me Rose!" But I'd like to imagine it was Laurents.
It was fun to learn that this was her first time performing the ballads from Follies. She claimed in the interview that she was "too short to play Phyllis." But if Caroline O'Connor could do it so could she. Though Connor danced a mean "Lucy and Jessie." I see Peters as more an "Ah, But Underneath" type.
And she still has a place to sell after all these years .
Apparently it will be online for about 4 days.

I’ve watched the first act. Loved the into the woods opening, Another Hundred People, Some Enchanted Evening and Goodbye For Now. Was nice hearing the Follies songs, which ended up being somewhat evolved by the time she was in the show and while in character. Voice sounded in really good shape for the act one closer of “Some People”, too. Was a little shocked that she was still trying to ‘sell’ her house and uses some of the same ‘this is my back’ lines lol.
Some nice chatter with Urie during ‘intermission’, too.

The chatter on the house and her “ this is my back” Is at least 30 years old. She has also recently gotten a lot of use of that dress.
According to the link below they've almost hit their goal of $250,000 USD. To be honest, that's a lot more than I would have anticipated. Nice work!

When I saw her in concert here on Long Island in November, the stuff about selling the condo was mercifully missing.

How long has the condo nonsense been going on? Since the late 80s?
To be honest it actually wasn’t the worst joke in the concert in my opinion, sadly. But I can forgive this, and the occasional crack in voice - because she has (“had, has...&rdquo
such a unique voice and presence that it doesn’t matter. It’s the only quality that seems hard to replicate.
I thought it was a cute evening. I saw her in concert soon after that BC/EFA show and it was almost identical. I don't know if it was the archival over broadcast filming, but I found it hard to be drawn in. I think the opening must have sold better live, because for myself and a few others I know, it fell flat. Mary Tyler Moore seemed awkward. I found it dragged at times, which I didn't experience when I saw her live.
I am glad it raised a lot of money. I kicked in a few bucks. I liked the interludes with Urie and Bernadette. Very funny and sweet.
I was in attendance that evening, the opening was much more exciting in person and very well received. You could feel the love for not only Peters and Moore but the nostalgia she brought back for ITW. It was very clever and I think, came across better in-person.
Yes, her material has been used and recycled time and again and I’ve seen her since then. She loves many of those “signature” songs in her rep as they must still feel fresh to her.
Glad they broadcasted the show at this time.

Oh, some of the jokes were cringeworthy and she didn't hit every note but I enjoyed the concert too. Watching Peters switch characters during "Into the Woods" or get into character as Marie in "Children and Art" was kind of fascinating - because it wasn't in a show with full makeup. She just altered her voice and body language. The former was comic and quick; the latter was moving.
The Follies songs were interesting, of course, because it was before she played the role. I thought her performance of "In Buddy's Eyes" was wonderful. I thought her Washington/Broadway performances of "Losing My Mind" were stronger than the concert, but the concert version was interesting as what she portrayed as a first try at the song.

About as long as you have been a member on BWW.
They took the video down early yesterday evening at an odd time. I forget the hour but it was like at 18 minutes after the hour. I was in the middle of watching it when it happened.
Somewhere it said it would be up until 8pm on Tuesday (which would have been 4 full days), but they took it down around 7:20pm on Tuesday. I think someone jumped the gun.
I thought it was a great concert, but I didn't love the "i'm trying to sell my house" banter. I'm surprised that she's apparently been using that for years.
