Posted: 10/26/11 at 9:03amI personally enjoy HAIR while running and Jesus Christ Superstar while lifting, but I was wondering what other albums and or songs help you guy get through a workout by listening to them.

I've never worked out, so I can't advise you on that score.
But listening to Passion, Marie Christine, or Hello, Again is a workout itself.
So you might want to try one of them. You'd get two workouts for the price of one.

Chicago
All That Jazz - motivates you to get up and start working out
When You're Good To Mama and All I Care About Is Love - are great warm up songs
We Both Reached For the Gun - uptempo you should be hitting the zone
I Can't Do It Alone - become one with your weights
When Velma Takes The Stand - push until you feel the burn
Razzle Dazzle - think how good you'll look in a few weeks
Nowadays - is there a better cool down song?

Posted: 10/26/11 at 12:35pmWEST SIDE STORY is a score that keeps on pumping adrenaline all the way up to "One Hand One Heart". Great for my jogging route. (And you can work little bits of Jets or Sharks choreography into your stride as you go.)

I can do showtunes when I'm lifting but when on the treadmill or the elliptical, they're torture. I need loud hard rock music then.

I don't work out, but I usually find any score that I love, even if it's relatively sedate, will get me very energized and dancing all around my apartment in front of my mirror in my underwear like an idiot.

Posted: 10/26/11 at 5:37pmI find musicals with a disco-ish sound really do it for me, so Chorus Line, Dreamgirls, Seesaw, Legally Blonde (I think it has some disco feel to it) all do well for me.

"Smokey Joes Cafe" is a great one to work out to!
2 disc set. Each one is around 46 minutes.
If you do 10 minute miles, you can get around 4-1/2 miles on the first CD, and it really goes fast! Used to do it on the treadmill when I sang for Cunard Cruises all the time.
LOVE that one!

I couldn't imagine listening to any of my fave cast albums while working out--unless working out means a leisurely walk or something...... I guess some of the more disco/dance tracks on cds like Pet Shop Boys' Closer to Heaven (which actually I did work out to once but only as it was the only CD in my car when leaving for the gym)...
Howabout Boris Midney's divine (yes, I'm serious) "Festival - EVITA" disco album? :P
