With these nominees I think Hair wins it. Next to Normal definitely deserved a nomination, a little annoyed it was not. What do you think about the nominees?
These nominations are all about PR. I imagine that Time-Life has more PR resources than Ghostlight or PS Classics.
I think the sound quality alone of the West Side revival should have taken it out of the running.
Hair should and will win.
I'm actually shocked that the beautiful recording of Allegro was not nominated. If I were choosing 5 nominees I'd go with: Hair, Next to Normal, Road Show, Allegro, and Kitty's Kisses.
HAIR should've won even if NEXT TO NORMAL was nominated, IMO. Like the Grammy for Best OBCR really counts for anything...maybe a tick in record sales but that's about it. It's not even televised on the Grammy ceremony.
WSS should win, hands down. That album is ELECTRIC. Magnificent. It's my favorite recording of the score for Olivo alone, though Scaglione is no slouch. I don't mind Cavenaugh either, so there. Nonethless the ridiculously overrated HAIR will probably win. Isn't it on Ghostlight? If so, good for them and at least Ghostlight will benefit. That's what Grammy's are about anyway.
I'm completely shocked that N2N wasn't nominated. I personally think it's a better album than HAIR. And WSS? Talk about one of the least passionate recordings ever. What I've heard of AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' sounded great, SHREK is... well... SHREK, and 9 TO 5 was a shoo-in because of Dolly.
Whatever. The only show to push their Grammy win was WICKED. It has no weight whatsoever, sadly. Updated On: 12/3/09 at 12:01 AM
Why is everyone shocked that the Tony-winning Best Score didn't get a nomination??????
Damn, some of you folks must think the Grammys are about music.

HAIR will win, hands down. I'm happily surprised 9 TO 5 and SHREK got nominated. Wasn't expecting AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' at all! If 9 TO 5 or SHREK pulls an upset, I'll be surprised. I consider WEST SIDE STORY and LIZA to be no competition.
