In your opinion, which straight play on Broadway is the best? I'll be in the city March 4-6 and have room to add a play to Curtains and Pirate Queen.
I saw Lieutenant of Inishmore and LOVED it. Saw Lousing Louie and thought it was okay. History Boys was great! Awake and Sing! was okay.
Also, any off-Broadway recommendations? I haven't seen any.
Thanks!
as apposed to a gay play, right?
I would recommend OUR LEADING LADY off broadway...here is the link to my review:

JOURNEY'S END is fantastic. If you like good theatre, this production is a must.
TRANSLATIONS
I really liked TALK RADIO. Can't say that it's the best straight play on Broadway, though, because I haven't seen any others yet. But, I thoroughly enjoyed it and Schreiber gives a knockout performance.

I thought all plays were gay?
My list all closed. ;-(
My favorite play which was on Broadway was "Little Dog Laughed"
Off Broadway they all closed:
"Southern Comforts"
"Regrets Only"
Still playing: "Mis Understanding Mammy"
Journey's End, hands down. Translations is a close second.
I concur with Journey's End.
I enjoyed "The Fever" at the Acorn---very thought-provoking!
Can you give more info on "The Fever"?
"Straight Play" means no music/ no musical numbers as opposed to a Musical . So " The Little Dog Laughed" is actually a straight play , even though it dealt with a gay actor in the closet.

Another vote for "Journey's End" here, although I've yet to see "Translations."
i agree. i won't be seeing "Translations" only due to monetary constraints but i would recommend "Journey's End". i also enjoyed "Radio Golf" when i saw it pre-Broadway
Without question, Journey's End. I saw it in London and it's riveting.
Translations with Journey's End as my close second.
