So, I'm taking a friend who is a big Sondheim and Peters fan to ALNM, and we don't plan to purchase tickets in advance. Do you think getting tickets at TKTS will be better than rushing and getting balcony seats? How is the balcony view at the Kerr?
Also, does anyone know if Peters or Stritch have any scheduled days off before it closes?
Thanks!
Well if you get to the theatre plenty of time before opening then Rush is the best way. I got row F on the side and they were wonderful seats, and a bargain!
From everything I have read, avoid the balcony.
The box office said that all of the student rush (or general rush, I forget which) are in the balcony. If you can sometimes get orchestra or front mezz seats, that would definitely be the best option, but do those seats appear often?
I think so. People often report side front orchestra, and when I was at the show a lot of the people in the rush line got exactly this.
"The box office said that all of the student rush (or general rush, I forget which) are in the balcony."
I can confirm this isn't true, since I got side orch, and have read a lot of other people have too.
Yeah, the chick who ended up in front of me in the first-row, center-left aisle seat got it in the rush line.
I've always had side orchestra, and once front row center for rush.
The balcony seats at this theater are the most frightening things I have ever sat in. I wouldn't reccommend them to anyone.
I too have heard horror stories about the balcony. What is so bad about it?
There are three rows, no leg room at all and the steepest rake you could imagine. You get the feeling that if you were to sneeze you would just plummet to your death.
A person could develop vertigo.
Okay, so since I need the tickets for this weekend, I'm kind of in a crunch. On telecharge and broadwayoffers it looks like seating is limited for this weekend. Do you suggest buying discount seats while you can online or risking rush this weekend? And this weekend is the only option.
All help appreciated! Thanks!

I rushed the show this morning-- two seats, first row, dead center. Most people in the row were not rush tickets, so I really have no idea how the policy works, but I would say its worth a shot!
And in case you were wondering, I generally hate the first row, but the stage is the perfect height and it all felt wonderfully intimate, without it feeling like the actors were sweating and spitting all over you. Honestly, I'm still sort of reeling from the experience.

I'm pretty sure that when it comes to ALNM, they just sell whatever they have left for rush. However, the both times that I rushed, i got standing room because both performances were sold out. Both times though I got to move to different seats at intermission - the first time in the house left boxes and the 2nd time 5th row center. Not bad for paying $27 or whatever it was.
I've gotten tickets twice with my daughters via student rush. The first time we got seats in a box, and the second time we were front row center.

Shrekster, there is a performance an evening performance Christmas and tickets are available on TDF, so I would assume that performance has seats available.

When we saw it, we gor our tickets about two hours before the show from TKTS. They were balcony. This was back in August, mind you. I would recommend, if you are really set on seeing the show that night, buying your tickets ahead of time.

I'm glad someone finally commented on the dizzying balcony seating! I am afraid of heights and had no idea that the balcony seats were so close to the edge. I nearly had a heart attack trying to inch my way across the front row of the balcony to my seat. During the performance, I had to close my eyes every so often when I started to feel sick from having to look down at the stage.
Anyway, I've been considering going back to ALNM before it closes. So the rush is for all leftover seats, meaning there's technically not a set limit on seats available?
Yeah, the layout of those seats in the balcony is VERY steep. I was kind of afraid that this old woman making her way to the front was going to fall. She was NOT happy at all with the layout lol
I went to TKTS and got front row seats! I would say TKTS is probably your best bet if you want good seats but rush tickets are better if you went assured tickets.
Okay, I decided to get tickets in advance just in case. I'm able to get center mezanine row A or center orchestra row P. What would you recommend?

Oh, definitely go for those mezz seats then.

How is that really a dilemma? In the middle of the orchestra or at the front of the mezz? I definitely say mezz. We sat there for the second act after being told we could move from the heavens, and it felt close and intimate; it was a very nice view.
I wasn't able to get center mezz, but I got Right Mezz row A seats 22 and 24. Has anyone sat in the right mezz? Is it obstructed?
Also, how is the stage door after a matinee?
Thanks for all the help!
