From Time:
And, independent of her adaptations, Reid and her childhood friend Ashley Rodger wrote a jukebox Chicks musical, Goodbye, Earl, about two friends who team up to kill one’s abusive husband, with the Chicks signed on as executive producers. “It's got Thelma and Louise vibes,” says Mendelsohn, a partner at Circle Management + Production. “It’s a story about what you would do to protect your friend,” Reid says. “I'm writing it from how I feel about Ashley, and she's writing it from how she feels about me. There were a lot of tears, and a lot of making each other laugh.”

Well finally a jukebox musical I actually feel excited about.
I think their story would make a fascinating bio-musical too, but am excited for their music on stage in any capacity.

I'm into it! Goodbye, Earl has always seemed like the sort of song tailor-made to be adapted into a longer-form story.
Country music in general works better for jukebox shows since they’re very story driven. Bring those tissues for when “Traveling Soldier” is done.
This sounds fun to me!

Jane Krakowski is already in the music video, let’s get her on stage too!
GBE is maybe among my least favorite Chicks songs, but you couldn’t keep me away from this catalogue on a Broadway stage!
Wishful thinking but maybe Natalie can do a few weeks towards the end of the run a la Billie Joe 😬
I can already see the standing ovation after the 11 o'clock number "Not Ready to Make Nice".
