Beth Leavel to Join YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN?

Word over on ATC is that Beth Leavel (who would be much better served originating the role of Mrs. Wilkinson in BILLY ELLIOT) will succeed Andrea Martin as Frau Blucher in YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN on or around July 22nd.

Has anyone else heard anything of the sort?

I guess this sort of kills the resurgence of rumors that NO NO NANETTE will be transferring into The Marquis for a limited run with the Encores! cast.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

That would be an absolutely absurd career move.

I agree with Wanna Be A Foster. Going from originating a role earning you a Tony then going to be a replacement with a 50% pay cut. I'm sure she'd be awesome but still

That IS an odd career move.

Not to threadjack, but I'm seeing the show 7/5, which of the OBC will be gone by then? Thanks so much!

Hunter: Your teeth need whitening./ Heidi: You sound weird./ Jeff: You taste funny.

Personally I hate Billy Elliot but agree with somthingwicked in saying that she would be perfect for Mrs. Wilkinson. I'm not really familiar with Young Frankenstein, but it's Beth, I'm sure she'd be phenomenal no matter what! :)

This sounds like good casting, though I doubt she'd be any better than Andrea Martin (fantastic!). Still, it sounds interesting.

Opel's on tour with DROWSY.

This rumor must be false. They're hiring nobodies who can work for scale so they can keep the show running at low costs.

Bad career move? It's all over because she takes a - shudder -"replacement" gig? Gimme a break. She lives in New Jersey, she wants to work on Broadway, it's a good part with a show-stopping number in which she'll be fabulous. Let's be grateful if it's true. It'll make the show worth seeing.

I didn't think the show was half as bad as everyone made it out to be.

I would def. see it again with Beth.

well for one thing she's too perfect for the part, and i think she's probably doing it for the money I'm sure that a big budgeted show like YF pays pretty well

I don't think "stars" were considered mr.scribble.

Word is they are cutting costs over at the Hilton.

That being said, however, Beth is inspired casting.

re: Beth Leavel to Join YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN?

maybe that's the reason Mullally is leaving because it doesn't give a reason why she is, same with Martin and they'd seem to be pretty pricy

re: Beth Leavel to Join YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN?

I wonder if Leavel agreed to work for cheap?

According to the Reidel article, they told the leads to either take a 50% paycut, or leave the cast. I can't imagine Bart, Hensley, or Fitzgerald would accept such a drastic paycut, considering two of them are Tony winners.
