I was actually surprised how well she is doing.  I don't at all feel like she's performing for a concert or recording. She is a broadway leading lady period.

She was so wonderful in the L5Y and Falsettos.  Great casting.  I wonder when Chris and Will will leave because I would like to see them, I don't know think they would leave when Sara would.

I think neon was implying that Chris is not as "big" of a star as Sara is, so it makes less sense for his run to be so brief?

I don't think it'll do so well once she takes over after a few weeks...not big enough of a name to sell tickets for a forgettable show, especially with all the others that are opened as well.

Bigger than Betsy Wolfe. The show seemed to take a hit when she was out. So maybe. I think Sara B is even something of a cult artist (she's not Taylor Swift thank goodness). I think the show itself is terrific. And the ensemble may be the best out there right now especially with the new additions. We'll see how it holds up over the summer.

Waitress did not take a hit when Jessie was out. That is demonstrably untrue.

I'll never understand why people say things that can easily be disproved by grosses. It's like Trump's team up in here some days.

Yes I agree with Neon...^^...that is completely not true. For example,  I can remember when Jessie was gone for 4 shows in Jan/Feb? for a Chicago thing, and the understudies were on, the count was higher than the following week when Jessie was back. When Jessie was not there in general, there was maybe a handful of people who headed to the box office to try and get their money back or switch tickets for another day.

Most people (outside of a theater crowd) don't have a clue who Jessie Mueller is.  When Waitress performed at the Macy's Thanksgiving parade, the announcer didn't say ..here is Jessie Mueller with the cast of Waitress, it was just here is the cast of Waitress. Only Sara was mentioned.

I saw Stephanie after Jessie left and the audience honestly didn't care. It was a full house and they were just as enthusiastic, if not more, than when I saw it months ago. People come for the show itself, because it is a grear show.

That's what I thought. I think people are conflating Jessie with the two high profile shows she's last been seen in.

Wow great casting. I'd love to see her take on this role but feel lucky to have seen Jessie play the role last April and will be seeing Sara next week. It's my first time revisiting a show on Broadway and I would totally do it again to see Betsy. 

I agree with those who say Jessie is a star. She is definitely one of my favourite Broadway ladies but is she a star to those who don't follow Broadway- I don't think so. Case in point: my 60 year old father who is known to fall asleep at most live theatre is going to be in the city with me. He had heard about Waitress through friends who are big Sara fans. My parents also like her music so Dad picked Waitress as the show he wants to see.

Oh, I wish I wish I wish there was someway to get a professional recording with Betsy. Her voice is so absolutely sublime. Are soundboard audios still a thing that happen? Somebody, anybody: work on that. Gosh, she's a star.
