Not at all. The handful of people I know who’ve done this left before its conclusion. They felt like it was some fan created ComicCon thing. Something a basic theater nerd PHANTOM obsessed person would enjoy and being around their PHANTOM community. Right up there with those theater nerds who talk endlessly in line while waiting to buy show tickets.

I just saw a very detailed YouTube video from one superfan who attended. I didn't watch the whole thing (it's long and there's crying) but it seems to be a very thorough minute-by-minute recap:

I think it's just a cash grab but many people from around the world will see anything Phantom related, and their marketing of "This is veryyyy exclusive and super limited!" seems to be working. It's a great space for theater like this, but this seems kinda gross with the whole secret password and the dress code thing.

And you can absolutely resell these tickets.

Can you imagine if airline tickets were able to be resold? You’d have all sorts of people buying up all the important flights, and then making a huge profit on them in the aftermarket.

The same thing that happens to concert and theatretickets. I’m all for the name of the person purchasing the tickets, having to be the person that shows up to the performance.
"

Sad that you don’t have any friends.
"

Oh dear! The online person is making fun of me because my opinion is different from theirs! What ever will I do?!? Oh no!! If ONLY I had a friend to console me.

I’d love to chat with you, lovely troll, but I have plans with friends.

If Lincoln were alive today, do you think he'd be pleased with his tunnel?

Why would you compare theater tickets with airline tickets which is entirely different, heavily regulated by federal governmentindustry, which involves human lives and borders. Jesus, some of you...
"

I would agree that my original point may be a little bit too much of a case of apples and oranges. My mistake.

That being said, I think some regulations when it comes to tickets would be very welcome. Personally, I don’t appreciate bots and scalpers buying tickets to the hottest shows and concerts, and then upselling them for three or four times the amount they paid.

My gosh, this board can be so incredibly hostile and preachy; and I say that as one of the boards original members.

I don't know if this a sign of the current horrible economy, but I'm no longer sure if it's that easy to make money as a scalper. Firstly, tickets are already very expensive from the get go. Presale no longer means you'll be able to snatch an affordable ticket to a hot show with celebs. And secondly,  I've noticed, group tickets purchased by scalpers wind up being sold way below face value on platforms like Theatr or Tickpick. I've seen numerous discounted  tickets for Othello, Glengarry and other nearly sold out shows. And there are fewer and fewer sold out shows on Broadway and more affordable ticket options than ever.

So, I don't know. It seems to me there isn't much money to be made scalping tickets that are already very expensive and unsold nowadays. I think the era of Book of Mormon and Hamilton that made some people rich is over.

Well we could start by not allowing ticket agencies to allow people to re-list tickets at above the cost they paid for when they list them.

My husband fell down a few days before we were to see the show. Because of that he had to use a cane and was unsteady on his feet and I was worried about how he was going to manage. I heard they had elevators so I contacted the show via email. They quickly wrote back and asked if I would like to use elevators or would I like a wheelchair and "guide". I answered that the guide and wheelchair would be perfect if it wwas possible. They emailed that a guide was unavailable for our time (7 pm) but that if we wanted to, we could change for 8 and get a guide. (Keep in mind that at this point it was less than 24 hours before our performance). It all worked out and we had an outstanding guide , Matthew, who pushed my husband and led me through the show. Matthew was truly extraordinary!  We might have missed one or two things but there were surprises that were added just for us.  These producers and the company running the show have nothing but my admiration and thanks.

And to Sutton, who said they think the show is just a cash grab, I could not disagree more. I've been seeing theatre now for 50 years and see between 50 to 100 shows each year. I never particularly loved "Phantom", I liked it but I wasn't obsessed. This show was something else. It was so unique and I LOVED it.

I also think anything they can do to stop scalpers without raising prices to $300 or $400 then Good For Them.

You can't resell tickets without going through them ... Good.

You have to dress appropriately ... Good.

No kids   The Best.

This show is far out of my price range, so I'll likely never see it, but thank you for sharing your experience, George. I'm glad it was such a good one.
