I agree. I love that they see more than just ultra popular shows. You can tell it’s a true passion.

When she makes 3 separate references to musical theatre (LES MIZ in particular) in her last book, it finally clicked for me how much she really loves it. To think what amazing Broadway at the White House moments we could’ve had.
Also, I’m so mad I missed her at the show by 3 days(!).

Can't imagine why anybody would make their decision on seeing a show based on two old political figures in their seventies going to that particular show.

On a side note, Bill is really smart, he got a Rhodes Scholarship for Oxford. The United States is really lucky to have him as a PM. I do0 think he needs to keep his penis in his pants however.

Seems to me there were several (lol) amazing Broadway moments like the one below when President Obama was in office.

Again, I don't think they're trying to. They're simply enjoying a night at the theater.

Jessie Tyler Ferguson was at the 11/23 Friday night performance.

Posted: 11/26/18 at 8:49amY’all know how I feel about the Clintons... but when all is said and done, I do love seeing them around the Theatre District. I love that they clearly love the arts. It’s a passion and fondness of theirs that, admittedly, I wish we had in the White House these days.

That was more than 20 years ago.

Unless you know something we don't, as stated by veronicamae, that was 20 years ago. No need to bring it up in this thread.

What a pathetic attempt at shade. This thread is remarking how often particularly Hillary goes to the theatre. Your response says a lot more about you than it does them.

And I loved them for that. I recall after winning in 08, Michelle asked that as a present for surviving the campaign trail, she wanted to see a Bway show. So, in early 09, their first Bway trip was to see JOE TURNER'S COME AND GONE.

Or maybe they just want to see a Broadway show.

Politics aside, not sure why this is noteworthy. VIP's see shows all of the time.
Do you think Bill/Hill will see Hill & Clinton? Also, do you think that they have or will invest $ in Bway?

I don't think it's so much "Oh, the Clinton's saw a show so I think I'll see it", it's that things like this get press - often outside of the typical theater outlets - and that people either learn about or are reminded about the show and that can move some inventory. Not a ton, but exposure like this almost always results in an uptick in wraps for the next couple of days.

When a president or former president or first lady attends a show, it will likely always be news at least within theater circles. I see nothing wrong with that.
i kinda doubt they’d invest in any Broadway show, mostly because most political figures tend to be polarizing. And while theater audiences tend to lean liberal, not all do and even liberals disagree on candidates. I think some people would boycott any show with the Clintons attached as investors. How large an audience would steer away is anyone’s guess.
And, no. As much as I’d wish it would, this will have negligible if any affect in Torch Song’s box office.
