Last night after the tony awards I was pretty bitter about what won for certain shows here is my opinion.
best feaured actor in a musical : Gavin creele , who should've won : Lucas steele
Best featured actress in a musical : Rachel bay jones , who should've won : Stephanie j block
Coreography : bandstand , what should've won : great comet
best orchestrations : dear evan hansen , what should've won : great comet
best lighting design in a musical : great comet , what should've won : dear evan hansen
best costumes in a musical : hello dolly , what should've won : great comet
best revival of a musical : hello dolly , what should've won : falsettos
Best leading actress in a musical : bette middler , who should've won : eva noblezata ( probably spelled that wrong )
I don't know a lot of the plays i only saw indecent I'm going to see oslo but in my opinion dave malloy was overlooked and so was great comet and falsettos. Feel free to coment what you think.
Why bitter? What stake do you have in these awards that they penetrate your emotions so deeply?
I just don't understand this mentality — about any awards, especially if you yourself are not in the running.

Or, if you haven't seen all the nominees in each category. If you haven't are you really qualified to make these judgements?

Exactly. And the poster who said they were very, very angry or the I hate Bette Midler comments. A bit of an overreaction to an awards ceremony
"
I am very happy for all the winners, even if I disagreed with some of the results.

What reason do you have to be bitter? This issue affects your life in absolutely no way.
Gavin CREEL
Bette MIDLER
Eva NOBLEZADA
Can I ask which of these shows you've actually seen?

I know you're bitter but just remember a frown is just a smile turned upside down. I think Bette Middler or Eva Noblezata said that.

Jitney totally should not have won revival of a play....I don't get what people saw in it.
Or how in ANY way this is different then the Bittler LOSERS thread???
And what, exactly, about the lights for DEH made you think it should have won? While I don't think there was anything lacking with the lights, I can't remember a single memorable thing about them.

Perfectly said, LizzieCurry.
I've never understood that thought process either...........thinking they know more than the pros do.

I personally found the way in which Bette went about giving her speech to be extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. That plus the awful performance that they put out made me very upset with the way Hello Dolly has been handling their public relations throughout the entire season. Just because they don't necessarily NEED to advertise the show because they know people are going to see it, doesn't mean that they should put in absolutely no effort whatsoever.
I loved her speech, and the audience was so supportive of her - applauding and cheering her to go on!
Let them make speeches - I'd rather hear what the winners have to say than sit through more meaningless schtick.
And I loved how she thanked Carol and Pearl. Great speech .
Agree!

I'm sure David Hyde Pierce would be thrilled to hear all about how little effort was put into his performance. If you get the chance you should let him know.
And I'm bitter about your spelling of "coreography " and about your failure to use capital letters (except on rare occasions, one of which was the capital C in "coreography"
By the way, how did you do that given autocorrect? I found that I had to make quite the effort.

You make sure and tell DHP that you didn't like his performance, since it made you so upset. Perhaps you can take over the show and show him how it should be done?

I suspect the Broadway community was fine with that particular form of "disrespect". But how was it unprofessional? Is there a form of acceptance speech in her contract attached as an exhibit? Or a morals clause specific to awards acceptance speeches? Professionally, her speech was exactly what anyone familiar with her career would expect.

Unfortunately, even if you are the most talented performer, you can't make War Paint's dinosaurs wave through a window.
