As much as I love Gavin, that's still not enough motivation for me to want to see the show. I would've rather seen him in Pippin
Great casting! I thought Gavin should have been cast as Tick in Priscilla, but I think he'll do well in Book of Mormon. Looking forward to seeing the tour when it comes to Toronto next summer (although I plan to see the show on Broadway THIS summer).
What does dating Andrew have to do with his casting?
Gavin can get parts on his own, I think he's way more talented than Rennells. And Rennells ain't no slug.

Can't wait to see the tour when it comes to Portland in January. Gavin is perfect casting, It will be interesting to see how Andrew and him differ.
Reggie, I agree. The show is going to sell anyway so why not go more for talent than a "name". I suspect most people had no clue who any of the witches were...are (lar) on the WICKED tour and it stays sold out.
I'll go out and say it: can Will Swenson play Elder Cunningham?? Please!! They had such great chemistry in Hair!!
Rannells, Renells, whatever...

'I am VERY curious to see how it does in London...something tells me the Brits won't like it quite as much as the Americans. But only time will tell.'
I think it should do well in London, Avenue Q enjoyed a healthy 4 year run so I think Mormon will do similar business but they need to be careful because if they outprice the show, it will fail although I expect ticket prices to be the standard £25-65 range with £80-95 premium seats.
Hope he stays with the tour if it comes to Atlanta. And is single by then if and when it happens.
BroomstickBoy, you better get in line to get on the Gavin Creel train. I may have to stage door in Seattle for this, and the Paramount theater where it is playing has a terrible stage door area, as it's uncovered (so good chance of getting rained on while you wait), and usually they park tour buses/vans on the street right next to it, so you are breathing in exhaust fumes the whole time too. But it will be worth it!
It's too bad I really do look like my avatar at times...
Jonwo, you forget that the britts had Jerry Springer: The Opera.
Regarding how it will play in London: Mormon is a satire of a uniquely and bizarrely American religion and also finds humor in America's sense of self-importance and can-do optimism running aground against the bleak, desperate situations in northern Africa. I think that aspect of the show's writing will find favor in London, along with the show's humor, tunefulness and high spirits.
Did they announce who'll be Elder Price in the Chicago sit-down production? If not, any thoughts on who?
There haven't been any casting announcements for either new company yet other than Gavin (and people mentioning things in various status updates and press releases for pre-tour gigs even though they're probably not supposed to). I think they're still in callbacks for Chicago.
Smaxie has it right. Compare the London run/reviews of LEGALLY BLONDE compared to the Broadway incarnation. The show was a satire of what they perceive Americans to be.
