My friend recently just broke up with her fiancee. Any good songs you can suggest to me so I can send to her? Thank you!
The ULTIMATE is
"We Do Not Belong Together" - Sunday in the Park With George
"The Friend You Were to Me" - Napoleon The Musical (It's actually Josephine, Napoleon's wife song to her friend after Napoleon dumps her)
"Why Do People Fall In Love?" - Havana! (released on one of Linda Eder's solo albums)
"Just Not Now" - I Love You Because... (Though I prefer Lauren Kennedy's version!)
"Letting You Go" - Lauren Kennedy
"I Dismiss You" from The Pirate Queen............LOL

Goodbye Love, but are you trying to make her happy or more depressed?

Happy/overcoming ones:
Forget About the Boy- Throughly Modern Mille
I'll Never Fall in Love Again- Promises, Promises
Wherever He Ain't- Mack and Mable
So Much Better- Legally Blonde
Falling Out of Love Can Be Fun- White Christmas
I Move On- Chicago
Sad ones:
Time Heals Everything- Mack and Mable
Still Hurting- The Last 5 Years
Who Will Love Me As I Am- Sideshow
There's a Fine, Fine Line- Avenue Q
Desert Island Top 5 Break-Ups, from High Fidelity
You Want to Be My Friend? - Closer Than Ever
I Resolve - She Loves Me
Grand Knowing You - She Loves Me
Get Out and Stay Out - 9 to 5
Can't believe no one's mentioned "Without You" from My Fair Lady.
Love the lyrics!

I Don't Ever Want to See You Again" by Alan Jay Lerner and Charles Strouse is about the bitterest, most hurt song I can think of.
It was written for Dance A Little Closer, Lerner's last show and a one performance flop, but the score did get a cast recording that is out of print.
Find it.
It ends, "Not again. Not again. Not again!" Get the idea?
Possibly I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair!!
And, seriously, if you're gonna listen to 'Letting You Go', listen to Philip Quast's at least!
"Good Night and Thank You" -- EVITA
"We Do Not Belong Together" from Sunday in the Park With George was the first song that came to mind.
Not from a Broadway show but by a Broadway composer -- Irving Berlin's "What'll I Do?"
"Be On Your Own"- NINE
"I'm Not Waiting"-Julia Murney, kinda break-uppy/self liberating
If they're staying in touch but just not getting married, then "I'd Rather Leave While I'm In Love" from The Boy From Oz would work.
My vote goes to "I Think I'm Losing My Mind".
And previously asked, what's the intent here? Cheering up or a good old sob fest?
